Have there been any monsters deemed so dangerous that slaying any and all of them (incl. to the point of extinction) was considered better for the environment than letting them live?

The Jiivas. They are an invasive species not only to whatever environment they enter, but possibly to the entire planet itself. The egg of one them altered the ecological processes of an entire continent. If an Alatreon, a species known to inhabit only the most inhospitable areas possible, thinks your nest deserves to be destroyed, you are as far from a good thing for the environment as you could possibly be.

Any ideas why moths have such a wiggly walk? I love the way they wave their little legs around, is it due to their wings being cumbersome or something?

I assume it’s just the way they’re built! Flying is definitely more efficient than walking for them though some species are better at walking than others.

Is there such thing as endangered invasive species?

They can never be officially considered both invasive and endangered in the same place, but a species can be invasive in one place while endangered or even extinct in their original habitat. Nobody in science seems to ever talk about the fact that this could be seen as a trade-off, and perhaps the only hope for a lot of species.I actually OWN an example:

The cellar slug or “beer slug” was spread throughout the world by humans, but last I heard, was recognized as threatened/rare in its original habitat, which is only a couple of caves in Germany.They’re so adapted to caves that they can’t even adapt to a nice dark forest or anything, they’re only happy if they have “hard” subterranean places to go to, made of stone or something close enough to it. As a result, they now thrive almost only in cities and suburbs where there are basements or sewers, or even in gardens where they retreat under the house foundation or into flower pots during the day.They are ALL OVER Portland which is how I discovered them, and I’ve now had a bunch living for three years in a terrarium with rusty pipes to hide in. There’s soil and wood and stuff in there, but they only like the pipes!

Have you had taro cake yet? I think it was taro, since that was the kind I had was labeled, but it might have been some similar purple tuber. In any case it was purple and tasted "dry" but it was really good

Okay, I love purple potato! I’m not sure I’ve had it in cake form, but maybe there’s something similar in my purple potato tag 😃

About the name, Japanese sweets tend to lump a lot of things together as 紫芋 murasaki imo (literally, just ‘purple potato’), including ube and Okinawan sweet potato. I know that Okinawan sweet potato is common here, but don’t know much about other purple potatoes!
