From ages (I think) 8-11, I lived in Wapakoneta, Ohio. We lived in a trailer park. It was a really nice place. It was called “The Four Seasons”. And we lived on Autumn Lane. I remember so much from living here.
It was my favorite place I had ever lived.
Where to start..
I guess I’ll start out with some of my favorite things.
The trailer park was right next to a busy highway. Now, you would think that it would be annoying and loud. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t close enough to be a problem, or far enough away where you couldn’t hear it. When I was laying in bed in the summer time, I would open my window in my bedroom, It was one of those windows that we on a school buss with the latches? And it had different notches for different heights for the window. And I would lay in there, watching my yellow curtains blow in the wind and just shut my eyes and listen. I could hear the cars hit the rumble strips on the sides of the road in the distance. It was just so calming and relaxing. It is one of the best memories I have from Wapakoneta.
Since it was a trailer park, the trailers themselves didn’t have mailboxes. There were mailboxes for all of them at the end of our road. They were metal and they always had really squeaky doors. I remember when middle school started, I was so happy because that meant I got to ride the bus. And the bus would stop at the entrance of our trailer park because a few kids lived there. And this boy and I, his name was Chase, we would sit under the mailboxes when it rained because that would keep the rain off of us. Even though we had umbrellas. It was just so fun.
I remember I loved going downtown to the river. There were steps to get down to the river for boats and such because there was a cement wall on the sides of the river. My family and I used to go fishing all the time. And I would catch bluegill with waxworms. My dad on the other hand was so good at fishing, he would catch so many fish. My mom would sit there and hold a rod and fish too. She didn’t like waiting for the fish to bite. But my dad, he could sit for hours and just listen to the water, and spot fish jumping and point them out to my mom and I. You could tell how much he enjoyed it.
It was someday near St. Patrick’s day, and on the other side of the river, there was a Lee’s Chicken place and my family and I had been fishing along the bike path by the river and we got hungry. So we went to get some chicken and cole slaw and green beans. But when we looked at the cole slaw, it was green! We came to the conclusion that it was because of St. Patrick’s day. It was still really good.
When we lived in Wapakoneta, we would drive up to Saint Mary’s, Ohio and go to Grand Lake when it had just rained. And we would drive around and pick up drift wood because my dad used to carve fish, and many other things out of the drift wood. There was a thrift store named Agapé and it was the best thrift store around. My parents took me there so many times. I loved knick knacks and they sold so many there. And I remember finding these 2 little white glass unicorns that were laying down. And I got them and they sat on my shelves for so long. I am not sure what happened to them. I miss those.
There are so many more things I remember. I have so many good memories. But I am very sleepy. I will post more tomorrow.
Thank you for reading
