✨WARDROBE WEDNESDAY ✨ In my last post, I received a request for a renaissance doublet, so here is your handy guide! I picked a classic Tudor style doublet, otherwise known as the funky jackets on that tudors show. They were originally padding worn under armor, but was turned into the fashionable garment you see here. Interestingly, like shapewear we’re used to seeing on ladies, doublets would hold extra padding or constricting in order to benefit the wearer. ✨WARDROBE WEDNESDAY✨ The key here is SIMPLE SHAPES and SILHOUETTES! Whenever I start a piece, I’ll use simple shapes and color blocking a silhouette so I can look at a very rough idea of the design before going further. Doing this allows you to ask many questions; does this pose feel right? What emotion am I trying to convey? Am I highlighting a piece of the wardrobe I like, or is it getting lost? Try it out and let me know your results!
