You had been preparing your whole life for this day, your 18th birthday would be the biggest change of your life, despite the terrible morning you had experienced you had to bite your tongue and smile, your mother had been kind enough to warn you which would be your destiny since you were a child

It was assumed that the prince would be cold and condescending to you and your parents, you would certainly not be his first choice at all, but things change and adapting was the only alternative.

Maybe in another life

All day there was a torrential storm with intense lightning and thunder, ideal weather for an event that no one wanted to attend.

None of your friends, not even your mother, agreed to help you prepare for your big day. If it had been a real wedding you would probably have felt offended, but even though it was a union only of convenience, you felt surprised that the only reactions were jealousy, envy or disinterest

While you were combing your hair and putting on a complicated white ornament held with locks and thousands of pins behind your head, a loud noise made you jump, something outside the tower had hit the bedroom window, possibly a tree branch or a bird considering the height

Whatever it was was none of your business

You still remembered your mother's scolding when you were a teenager "a young lady doesn't investigate" besides there was nothing to worry about, that's a man's job, you were a maiden, you were there to please, smile, look down and be good company

The noises outside didn't stop and you couldn't concentrate, surely a view wouldn't hurt anyone, just to calm your nerves, and besides, no one would know.

You slowly approached the window and opened the curtain just a little, letting out a dull yelp when you saw a pair of eyes fixed on you, this must be divine punishment for not following orders, now something that you could only describe as a demon was watching you from the other side of the glass, this would be your end, your senses began to fade and before hitting the floor the last thing you saw were those eyes.

The constant movement made you come to your senses, you were lying on something soft, perhaps you were asleep in a carriage wrapped comfortably in expensive furs on the way to your new home next to the prince, but the throbbing sensation in your head was enough to make you your eyes fluttered open, the image in front of you was the most bizarre you could imagine, you were not in a carriage, you were on the back of an animal, a wolf to be exact, the biggest wolf you had ever seen.

Your breathing accelerated and your thoughts ran excessively, leaving you petrified

The colossus immediately noticed the change in your breathing and turned its head towards you, stopping completely

“Please let me go” you whispered between your pants

Almost as if the creature could understand you, it descended to the ground, giving you the opportunity to get off its back, with trembling hands and feet you slowly climbed down and began to crawl in the opposite direction of the animal, the rain had stopped, but the ground was still wet and the sky was cloudy

"This is not happening, this is not happening, this is not real"

The wolf tilted its head, staring at you but did not move, without taking your eyes off of it, you began to look around, trying to recognize something, but the dense forest around you and the deep darkness of the night made it impossible for you to see beyond a couple of meters

"Please don't come closer" you said more to yourself, but the beast obeyed you, staying in its place, you didn't know what to do, you couldn't stay close to this monster, but moving forward meant entering the unknown and other possible dangers.

You decided that the best thing would be to stay where you were and wait for dawn the beast remained attentive to your every movement, but made no attempts to approach you, plus perhaps there are more creatures like this one in the depths that are less obedient than this one

The sky began to clear above you, letting the moonlight pierce the clouds, a ray of light illuminated the beast's face, reflecting in its eyes, and your breath caught at the image of bright yellow eyes fixed on yours, smooth and long black fur

You had to admit that he was magnificent, beautiful even, obviously you had been wrong about his demonic appearance.

Why would such a powerful and gigantic creature kidnap you from the royal tower just to carry you through the forest and not hurt you in the process, he certainly wouldn't be looking for a snack because he would have already eaten you, and the intense gaze he kept on you... What was happening?

"Can you understand me? You whispered without waiting for an answer

The rustling of the branches around you woke you up, the wolf got up, stretched and shook itself, but then began to advance towards you

"Oh my God, no no no don't come near me"

The wolf stopped and headed in the opposite direction, towards the trees

Once you lost sight of him you decided that this was the perfect time to escape and find your way back to your home, but as soon as you stood up, a figure appeared in front of you, a man

"Hello"

"My name is ___, you must be scared"

"Excuse me gentle man, but i'm in a bit of a hurry, I must return to the kingdom ___"

"I know, I brought you here."

"Excuse me? What do you mean?"

"I'm a werewolf, I was watching over you all night"

"You? Are you the wolf that kidnapped me and brought me here? Why?"

The sequence of events was the most disconcerting thing that could happen to someone, everything seemed totally unlikely but this man approached with so much respect that it was impossible for you to refuse his request

"I would like to return, if you can accompany me, I will be very grateful"

That was a kingdom of chaos and constant change, the last two wars, although won, left the crown in a situation of extreme poverty, with no better option the king had to ally with the few rich men in the kingdom and try to re-establish the order.

That was how Y/N's father came to court, he, being the armorer of the kingdom, had enriched himself tremendously in recent years, however, wealth could not do anything in favor of this man, he was unpleasant, offensive , ignorant, adulterous, alcoholic and greedy

Y/N's mother did not tolerate having him around, he disgusted her so much that she limited the time they spent together as much as possible, which was not so difficult considering that he spent almost every night outside his house with one of his lovers.

The king did not consider him trustworthy, but he was the only one who could invest the necessary money to rebuild the walls and towers, however Y/N's father would not do anything that would not be of direct benefit to him

With hundreds of mouths to feed and a vulnerable kingdom, the king was forced to accept the conditions of the armorer, it was him who proposed the idea, at first the king thought it was a crazy idea, to marry off his eldest son, and future heir to the crown and the entire kingdom, with this man's daughter, there had to be a better option, only, there wasn't

After consulting with his advisers and the other members of the court, the king reluctantly accepted the marriage proposal, of course the armorer was known to despise his wife and daughter, often referring to them with derogatory terms, and of course his only intention with the marriage was the possibility of influencing the decisions of the future king, however the followers of the king pointed out another truth, the prince was still a child, years would pass before he became a man and took the throne, by then the armorer would surely have died by his own hand due to the amount of alcohol he drank, or thanks to another barbajan in some bar fight, and the young Y/N would be as good a wife as any other maiden raised in a wealthy family.

That was how the fate of Y/N and the prince was sealed, they would marry on Y/N's 18th birthday.

Y/N, like the other girls in the kingdom, had been educated to obey their parents, and keep silent, she, like her mother, did not like her father's presence, and she looked forward to the rare moments she could spend alone in her bedroom, as much as this angered her mother, she considered her daughter the only thing in her life she had control over, someone she could order around, the outlet for all her frustrations.

"The prince? But wouldn't that make me a princess?"
