Headcanon that Will doesn’t like being held by the shoulders

Headcanon that during Will’s slavery, he was r*ped by some of the slave masters. Skandians are big and rough and probably pinned him by grabbing his shoulders and pushing him to the wall or onto a bed.

Meanwhile, he’s under the effects of warmweed so he can’t really resist. He becomes conditioned to the fact that when someone grabs him by the shoulders, they are going to try to have their way with him.

After rescuing him and Evanlyn from the mountains, someone (likely Halt or Horace) need to talk seriously to him and grab his shoulders to get his attention and to look him in the eye.

He freaks out. Whether he lashes out in anger or screams or just sort of curls up into a ball and cries is up to interpretation, but everyone is super confused and concerned about him. He won’t tell them why at first, certainly not until he calms down. But from that point forward, no one touches his shoulders. Ever. They might grab the sides of his arms instead, but never the shoulders.

Even once he’s gotten better about the trauma, it’s still a habit for everyone to avoid his shoulders. He still flinches if someone claps him on the shoulder too hard. Those who aren’t in his close circle of friends might think it has something to do with his arrows or something, but they can never figure it out. And if anyone asks, they are told it’s an old injury that doesn’t need to be discussed further.
