no way
What if Breezepelt was exiled after the Great Battle, but was accepted back into the Clan because he rescued and brought back missing kids Cherrykit and Molekit
Aka the unborn kits he would have killed had Jayfeather and Honeyfern’s spirit not stopped him.
Maybe they snuck away in the night hoping for an adventure. Maybe a flood washes them away. Or maybe a lingering dark spirit lures them away because it’s bitter it lost the battle.
Whatever the case, Breezepelt finds them.
He tells himself it’s not his problem, that all Clan cats can rot, kit or no, yet he can’t bring himself to abandon them. He knows he has to take them back, even if he’s attacked for stepping foot on Clan territory again.
He’s still snappy. He’s still bitter. He’s still full of resentment.
So when Molekit complains about being tired and asks for a break, he could just smack him—
He doesn’t. He’s not like him. He’s not like Crowfeather. At least he doesn’t want to be.
He doesn’t become World’s #1 Caretaker, but he watches his words and keeps his tongue in check. He will tell them to stop complaining if they say the same thing over and over, but he won’t refuse rest breaks (especially not with their little legs), won’t refuse stopping to hunt, and a little ways into their travels, he even indulges a little in their need to stop just to look at something that caught their eye.
And the kits respond to it. They like this cat and so they tell him about themselves and about their parents, and that’s when Breezepelt realizes who they are.
—
I really like the idea of them being lured away by a Dark Forest spirit because imagine Breezepelt being fueled to kill a pregnant queen by a Dark Forest cat and then he protects the very kits he would have killed against one (maybe Darkstripe? One always a pawn, the other breaking free).
——
That’s as far as I thought about it because someone said something about Breeze’s redemption pretty much coming out of nowhere and him suddenly being fine now because he’s a dad.
So consider: he is better now because of kits…just not his own and in a different way, and his redemption is actually focused on
Don’t know if the timeline fits with the kit’s ages but. Idc
Warrior Cats: the coughing of the stars part one
Pure Vanilla Cat
Scourge illustration i’m proud of! It’s for a video but i’m hoping to do 2 other cats like this! He’s not part of the larger AU but his story is a bit different!
It's almost 2AM but uuhh you know how Scourge and Firestar's lives are so similar until the point where the path breaks off into goodness and badness?
What if Firestar's life was actually what Scourge imagined could have been his life, and he thinks about it as he lay dying (either as an adult or as Tiny)
--being accepted into the Clan and becoming a well-loved, respected, and admired leader
--having a loving relationship with his littermate (Princess)
--defeating that Tiger guy (Scourge did kill him, but imagine all the battles in life, the fact that they were sworn enemies, killing his spirit, defeating TIGERclan)
--being apprenticed to the she-cat that (tried to) save him
--living long enough to have a family, and having many members of that family leave their own great legacy and importance
--Actually having close friends that he could turn to
--and like...imagine his collar breaking as he dies, and it correlates to 'Rusty's collar breaking as he joins the Clan and begins living the life Tiny craves.
(Btw how he would die if he were older is tougher to say, as 'Firestar' was the one to kill him, which is hard to explain in this case. Is it metaphorical? The good part of him finally taking out the bad? Is he so bled out at this point that his imagination fully engulfs him, and he truly believes in his final moments that Firestar's life WAS his?)
Worldbuilding Tidbits: Ranks
Most of these ranks are canon but I figured I ought explain some of them
Leader- Same as canon
Deputy- Same as canon
Druid- Renamed medicine cats
Lore-keepers- These guys are the historians, storytellers, lawmen, recordkeepers, diplomats, and morale boosters of the clans. Lore-keepers are very educated in history, legends and mythos, the warrior code, and diplomacy. They also keep extensive records of important events in the clan and older lorekeepers often help counsel the leader. Of course a single lorekeeper can't be good at everything, so usually a lorekeeper will specialize in one or two of the above fields. They don't fight and rarely hunt, and hurting or, Stars forbid, killing a lorekeeper or druid is one of the heaviest offenses in the clans
Warriors- Same as canon
Caretakers- The camp bodies, they keep the camp clean, repair/build dens, regulate which areas of the territory are to be hunted on, and offer emotional support for their clan. They can also hunt and fight, and are trained to protect their camp with their lives
Apprentices- Same as canon
Perma-queens- Mollies (or in rarer cases, toms and moggies) who stay in the nursery to help the queens and kits. They help raise the kits and offer support and comfort to their parents, and kitsit if their dam needs to take a break. So pretty much Daisy and Ferncloud
Fun fact, this rank is the most accurate to IRL feral cat colonies since they're made up of mostly mollies
Queens- Same as canon
Kits- Same as canon
Elders- Same as canon, but they are much more revered and the whole clan pitches in the care for them
---
Scavengers- A ShadowClan specific rank, they venture into the town to gather supplies and food and maybe recruit some new cats. They're very skilled in diplomacy
