Field Armour from England dated to the 19th Century on display at Warwick Castle in Warwick, England
This set of armour was collected by George Grenville, 4th Earl of Warwick, a famous collector of arms and armour. During the 19th century, many collectors did not have a great historical understanding of what they were purchasing which led to objects being misslabelled and forgeries being purchased. This set of armour is an example of the many fake pieces of renaissance armour produced in the 19th century for the rich collector market. Many nobles wanted to show off their wealth and family lineage by having arms and armour collections in their homes.
