DESPERATE YOUTH

we’re in the last throes of our youth. soon, nobody’ll consider us young anymore. everybody considered young’ll be of later generations than ours. ours’ll be in charge like every generation gets its chance to be in charge, to shape the world in their image. we’ll be wasting our chance to reshape the world, to do things differently, we’ll know. some of us know it already, now, like the later youth’ll feel it, then. we’ll no longer be young enough to feel it, not like the later youth’ll be. some of the later youth’ll know, then, what we know, now.

SENSE AND DREAD

we are more capable than ever, and our possibilities are only increasing ‘cause we are more capable than ever, we’d say, but a point where all our possibilities come to nothing is also always nearer than ever, we’re aware.

WORKING CONDITION

we are utterly alone, yet in brief moments of transcendence, we feel as if we are not utterly alone, reaching out into a void entirely empty of what we seek; a gesture of reaching out continues and must continue because we are essentially beings of gesture—constructed normalcies, alchemic behaviors, repetitive choreographs—creating what extends us in boundless directions, we feel, until our boundedness reasserts itself, constricting everything.

STARTING POINT

of the default setup of experience where we see things from our very own solitary point of view, i want to be free. of that seemingly inescapable setup within which we are particularly liable to self-centeredness and self-importance, i want to break free.

CHANGE

she is a persistent presence on who we depend not to lose our way. she isn’t an enemy to be fought nor an ally to be protected. at best, she is our capricious companion, variably concerned and unconcerned with our expectations.
