Life wastes itself whilst we are preparing to live.
from "Prudence" in Essays: First Series by Ralph Waldo Emerson (1841)
Fml man what am I doing
Wasted.
The closer to 30 I get, the more I freak out, thinking I did so much wrong in my life, and wasted my youth. And that I missed out chances I will never get again. That I did not enjoy my 20s like I should have.
In shadows deep, where dreams in sorrow lie,
Potential vast, like stars in darkest night,
Yet depression's grip, a heavy shroud, denies,
The chance for brilliance, hidden from the light.
Oh, wasted hours, in melancholy's grasp,
The talents dulled, the passions turned to gray,
In depths of sadness, lost within the clasp,
Of endless night, where hope has slipped away.
Papillon (Franklin J. Schaffner, 1973).
There's so much chaos in my mind but from outside, I look so "normal" that people actually think I'm deliberately wasting my life.
