Just Add Magic is an Amazon Original kids' TV show based on the book by Cindy Callaghan. (Let me tell you a secret: This is only adaptation of a book that's better than its source material.)

Season one begins with best friends Kelly, Hannah, and Darbie stumbling upon an old cookbook in Kelly's attic that used to belong to her grandmother and her best friends, Gina Silvers and Ida Perez. The girls can't ask Grandma Becky about the cookbook because she has recently lost her ability to communicate. But after cooking "Shut 'Em Up Shortcake", the girls realize that the recipes in the book are magical. Kelly theorizes that her grandma isn't actually sick; she's under a magic spell.

JAM has four seasons in total, three of which were released in January of 2016, 2017, and 2018, and the final season in February of 2019. There was also one season of a spinoff released in 2020 that presumably got cancelled due to COVID.

This show has so much lore and so many plot twists! If you like Gortimer Gibbon's Life on Normal Street, The Baby-Sitters Club, or Once Upon a Time, definitely give Just Add Magic a try! (There's a plot twist on JAM that's very similar to a plot twist on OUAT, and I honestly think JAM reveals it more effectively.) I promise you will love it.
