I think I have serious Kim Sung Kyu brainworms after watching The King of Pigs

Like I watched all of Kingdom (both seasons) in one night and might watch Pachinko 😭 next (even though I'm not into Lee Minho)

The AI dead wife voice drama does not seem my style but I am always willing to watch something ironically and for the lols (Jung Hae In ALSO isn't my vibe help)

But yeah I really do need to see more of him, except why does he have SO FEW ACTING CREDITS AHHH

I'm about to start watching his dramas' promotional content on YouTube if need be, like he's so captivating

Tune in for Love (2019)

Tune in for Nostalgia, and a lesson on Juvenile Crime

I don't know how I feel about this movie. The two leads are really great, and good together, and the happy moments of reunion are very enjoyable, but there are some things that bother me.

The lack of basic 20th century communication skills was a problem. I understand that they are trading in nostalgia. There's no social media hellscape. This movie is set in the days before tumblr.com even! So theoretically, you could lose track of each other and never meet up again for a long time.

But people knew that! They knew to get people's addresses. They made sure to work this stuff out. And so that kind of mid-movie break frustrated me a little, even if it did make the reunion scene feel very touching.

My other quibble is with how they kept throwing up obstacles just to build out the tension at the end. Alot of these kinds of movies do that, so it's not that surprising, but it would have been more interesting if they just tried to talk it out more. That would have been a chance to show some actual character growth over the 10-15 years this movie is set in.

Finally, there's a bit of pacing problem. It feels like a much longer movie than it is. I had to break it up into 2-3 sessions for whatever reason. I enjoyed the movie while I was watching it, but I didn't care about the next chapter. It kind of trades in nostalgia and common "good girl" / "misunderstood boy" tropes. If the actors were only average, they wouldn't have been able to make the film work.

Overall, a solid film, worth your time just to watch the two leads do something a little different from the typical drama stuff, but not amazing.
