Hello!! I suppose I should introduce myself

I'm KarahKat! I use they/them pronouns. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

My username comes from two of my ocs names smushed together longer explanation

I do a lot of drawing, specifically of my OCs. Oh boy I have so many books that are ✨work in progress✨ for those little rascals. My style is pretty cartoony. I use alcohol markers, do digital art, and like making comics. I'm also learning how to animate! FUCK AI, this is all human shit here!

I like fantasy and DnD :) ren fairs are some of my favorite places to be. I play Minecraft and I enjoy musicals!

You all do not understand how much I love him. He’s a scientist to accidentally melded his brain with an evil mouse who forced him to turn on all his friends and become a villain who only steals cheese

He’s still kind of a father figure to the main character (wordgirl) who’s a superhero, even though he’s evil and their relationship is a bit strained

He’s absolutely pathetic, adorable, and gives major unemployed energy (I mean he is unemployed) he probably has adhd. also he flirts with everyone and is like really fruity

I just saw the Suffs musical pls pls pls watch it! It's about the women's suffrage movement in the US and it's so good!! There's a proshot officially on youtube from PBS for free if you can't see it in a theatre but OH MY GOD is it so good

Hermit a day may 30: Geminitay!

I LOVE gem's skin this season so so so much!! Obviously I had to draw her in her armor holding a sword since she's gemini-slay! I loved that I got another chance to draw shiny things with the armor and sword. I <3 shinies!

The hair is inspired by how Scott Christian Sava does it all flowing out in cool directions (If you don't know who he is pls check out his art, it's awesome!)

Since I'll be busy tomorrow, I won't be able to do day 31, so this is the last one for me. I've had so much fun drawing the hermits this may, I feel like I've expanded my art skills a lot! (no longer scared of backgrounds lol) Thank you so much to the people organising this (I have no idea how you keep up with all the reblogging, major props to you for that!) And see you next year! o/

Just a quick silly one today.

Had the thought last minute of bdubs doing sokka's cactus juice bit from avatar the last airbender after he ate the raw beet on the charity stream as his vegetable advert

More hamlet stuff: Gertrude could see old king Hamlet's ghost in act 3 scene 4 (okay, please, let me get on my soap box here)

the last time the ghost appeared, Horatio and Marcellus were able to see it, so it isn't just a "only hamlet can see it" situation (at least at the start).

The main interpretation I've seen is that this isn't the ghost hamlet saw at the start of the play at all, it is merely a hallucination, an indication that he's finally gone mad. And while I do like this, as it seems like the most obvious thing that's going on here, I propose something else:

Gertrude is lying.

What if the old king visited her before? How did he find out about the wedding anyway, he must have been there to see it as a ghost (I refuse to believe knowledge just gets magically beamed into his head, I like to think he just stood back, watching, before hamlet returned)

Then imagine: you're Gertrude, your husband is murdered and you're getting married to his brother, but out of the corner of your eye, you see your dead husband, just watching you with biggest look of distain you've ever seen. He never approaches. He can't be really there. If you just ignore him, he'll go away.

Then one day, when you're alone your room, the ghost speaks to you. He asks you why. Why did you marry his brother so soon after he died? Why did you hurt him? But he can't be real. You don't want him to be real. You can't feel guilty for hurting him if he's completely gone. No feelings to hurt, he doesn't exist anymore. So you don't respond. You ignore him completely every time he tries to say anything to you. He's not real

There's so much the old king knows, even after his death. He's the main source of information we have as to what happened before the play starts, but he doesn't know why Gertrude betrayed him.

THEN you find you that your son can see the ghost too. so he is real. But for your own sanity, you have to pretend he isn't. Because if you acknowledge him, then you admit that your betrayal did indeed hurt him deeply.

Anyway uhh... Gertrude's guilt woo!

Hermit a day may 27: Grian!

I absolutly ADORE grian's base this season, so I had to draw him in it. I love observatories and telescopes and space so much, it made me really happy when he said what he was building.

A few weeks ago, I had the idea of light from stained-glass windows reflecting all over the room, so we did that :) and I thought it would be a cool idea to have the camera be really close up to the telescope with a weird perspective, which was fun (but also absolute hell) to figure out how to draw!

I think this one's my favorite I've done this year!

One of my favourite parts of hamlet’s character is how he pretty much runs in circles around the other characters with his words. Like he’s just thinking so fast, even compared to the characters who are in no way stupid. This adds a whole extra bit to his struggles with making decisions throughout the play.

I’m sort of similar in that I get impatient in a lot of conversations and have to constantly remind myself to ‘slow the fuck down’ (I talk really fast when I’m excited). Then suddenly when I can’t come to a conclusion right away because there’s too many factors to consider, or whatever, I get really distraught and hung up on that decision for a loooong time since I’m not used to it taking so long. It builds up and keeps feeling like a bigger deal in my head the longer I sit with it, to the point that the thought of actually making the decision makes me feel sick.

Anyway uhh, I think that’s what hamlet was going through in the play and this is one of the biggest reasons I relate to him so much. He was focusing more on the “I don’t know which choice is right” rather than the actual making of the choice through a lot of the play and he kept finding different reasons to stall it

Is this decision paralysis?? That might be what it’s called, idk I’m not a doctor.

for false's day, I drew her with a happy ghast, since my first thought when seeing the happy ghast harness was: "hey, it matches false's goggles!"

I thought the ghast would look sort of like a jelly fish mixed with a blobfish.

They're best buddies :)
