The way Holmes and Watson complement each other is so dear to me. Not only did Watson immortalized Holmes in stories that survive the ages, but he saved him from himself, his loneliness and harmful addictions. The way everyone who knows them just knows that John Watson would go to Hell and back for Holmes, and Sherlock Holmes would die without and for Watson; his acclaim, his constancy, his love – romantic or not.
It's just beautiful, this partnership that spans centuries and continents. It's immortal. Two men who never existed and will never die, in fact.
