*shuffles through box* How about 5+ AU headcanons for the Well Adjusted Wardens squad in a Doctor Who AU?

Oh boy hmm. *similarly shuffles thru wikipedia pages for Doctor Who lmao*

okay so I know u gave me a specific squad but upon reading the sort of dynamic w/ the Doctor being the like weird, wise, experienced guide/father/whatever figure and the Companion/s being audience stand-ins who poke for knowledge and cause problems, here is the first solid hc:

1. Tamaris Surana as Doctor, Flytter as main Companion. two smols traveling the space/time continuum, Tamaris poking into other peoples’ problems with their bullheaded certainty that they can and shall fix things that Must be fixed without a terrible amount of regard for the opinions of the people with said problems, contrasted by Flytter’s wide-eyed enthusiasm & wry and unapologetic willingness to call Tam out; they both have a desire to accumulate lost knowledge, though Tamaris is secretive and pragmatic while Flytter is more earnest and and less willing to interfere with the way people and events Should Be.

and now to get into the actual WAW XD

2. Egeire-as-Companion is also fun for the moral compass aspect of things. I imagine him picked up in a misadventure that involves like– “Oh gods my friends ran off into [some ancient vault of lost knowledge/artifacts] and they haven’t come back and I need to find those idiots but I cant get in by myself.” and Tam hears “lost and hidden knowledge you say” and Flytter hears “oh no your friends D:” and Shenanigans happens

3. Said friends probably being like. Kylare, Tamlen, and perhaps Merrill– if the place conveniently requires three people to enter, then Eg gets left out in round 1 (for being a wet blanket) and Tam & Flytter, with him, make a second trio capable of getting in after them. Rescues are made, shit is plundered/recovered/destroyed, Egeire is convinced that traveling around w/ his helpers and not these assholes might be fun and Ky is not about to be left out of weird exciting shit, much less when it involves her little brother going off with suspiciously convenient/powerful strangers

4. Denoreth is probably an angry rebel of some manner who is all too happy to help Tamaris n co. blow shit up and get into old vaults/libraries/etc if it means fucking up the oppressive people in power, freeing people dragged off in the middle of the night, etc. Ky is all for kicking ass, Flytter and Eg wanna help, and Tam is Definitely Here To Help Oh Yes, Of Course. (Eg and Den probably end up stuck together in an elevator/closet/similar small space at some point bc obv.)

5. sample misdaventure, mostly bc i always like the idea of Egeire being the first sign something’s gone Really Wrong:

The crew touches down in a large but eerily quiet town, where Tamaris tells everyone that it is imperative that they’re in and out as quickly as possible; it’s said there is some sort of unknown maybe-weapon that was anachronistically introduced to the area and in the near future causes a massacre, and so the mission here is to get in, find the abnormality, find out who the perpetrator is if possible, and get out.

the town should be bustling and active but it seems… almost oddly sleepy. There is little traffic, people wander around and amiably chatter in almost hushed tones about practically nothing at all, and it doesn’t seem hard to avoid drawing attention even as outsiders, like everyone is too distracted to notice them. of course there is splitting up involved at one point; Tamaris w/ Den & Ky for muscle, cunning, and frankly standing out, Egeire w/ Flytter for a quieter mix of diplomacy, innocuous investigating, and blending in.

Among those the main trio meets, there is a sharp young lady who knows something is Up bc everyone including her intolerable mother is acting so annoyingly complacent and dazed, like sedated sheep, but cannot yet find an explanation for this eerie change, only barely keeping her head down as she realizes she also cannot entirely trust the people acting like this. Also possibly featuring a pleasant but very much undazed young lady of faith who has an inkling as to where most of the weirdness is concentrated but hasn’t been able to get close enough to find out what exactly is going on either.

And then cue Flytter running back to the others, terrified, bc some people showed up and tried to “invite’ them somewhere and then tried to abduct them when they politely declined and Flytter only got away bc Egeire just barely held them off long enough for them to run and oh gods they don’t know where he is andandand. So suddenly the crew is under pressure to both find the like brainwashing anomaly and their missing friend but oh wait there he is! With a soft smile and sleep eyes, telling them that everything is okay and that they should relax (*dreamy laugh* “Though I suppose you’ve never been very good at that, sister.”) and would they like some tea?

(and probably in the midst of the ensuing chaos/race against the clock is when the Plot Twist Reveal happens that oh shit gentle giant Egeire is kind of super fucking dangerous give blades/bladed objects. I cld go on abt this probably but I’m not here to write a fic abt a thing I barely understand lmao)
