LOOK MAN I AM SO BAD AT THIS SORT OF WORLDBUILDING BUT HERE ARE SOME IDEAS I VERY QUICKLY CAME UP WITH FOR OUROBOROS PARADOX:

obvs lots of chopping wood and last-minute hunting

so much soup and bread. it's like the go-to meal

many people choose to kill their livestock in winter, as a sort of last-minute prayer that they will make it out to see spring

fluffy coats. i'm talking big round things. the world i've set them in is roughly based on scandinavia so it gets CHILLY. people are bundled up insane amounts. if you'd like to see a doodle of winter clothing i would be happy to oblige because the concept is so cute to me

there is a religious festival based on the northern lights!! many groups go duur-sledding (it has just occurred to me that i dont think i've shown anyone here what a duur is. it's like a deer/duck/dog thing. OMG YALL HAVENT SEEN TJOSTIER THATS SUCH A SHAME HE'S SUCH A GOOD BOY!!) up to semi-remote locations and celebrate the Goddess!!

towards the middle of winter, especially in more rural towns, citizens tend to use the "town hall" as a gathering place to have feasts and stay warm in the harsh climate. there's more religious stuff here

oh there's also a rule to not go outside if you're not in a group because occasionally (again, in rural areas) a hungry wrokk pack might be stalking around the village looking for prey (oh my god sorry i realized you dont know what a wrokk is either ESSENTIALLY A CROW/ELK/WOLF THING)

I had a whole post planned full of different pictures and I’ll do that later but for now I’ll just post the cuteness that is nursing my big still a baby boy in the car while big (so weird not calling her baby) sister sleeps before heading in to buy a fish because I got bored at home 🙃

Day 3 of school I think is going great- I’m allowing myself to feel what I need to feel and yea.

Is there a certain jurisdictional system in your world with its very own laws and 'Deadly sins' that are considered capital offences? How are these punished? Is there a court of law that can overrule other court's decisions? Who sits in that very own legal system? Is it a specific group or are they elected or can everyone become a lawyer or judge?

umm wow uh. i haven't really thought about some of these concepts, but to be fair ouroboros paradox is set in a sort of medieval/viking age so the laws and such are pretty rough and sort of a community vote-type-thing. i really have not worked on this at all whoops

BUT i CAN tell you about something that i HAVE kinda worked on!! Queen Luciana has a sort of crew of people called the Centennials! basically they are a group of specialists she has deemed worthy enough to work beside her and live for. you know. centuries.

wow i really. need to work on this aspect of my worldbuilding huh. THANK YOU FOR ASKING YOU'VE CALLED MY ATTENTION TO THIS GAPING HOLE HAHA

World Building Wednesday

Let's talk religion!

There are four houses of the gods — Day, Night, Fortune, & Death. Each has their own following depending on whichever region we're looking at. Let's dive in, shall we?

Deity of Day — Asus

They are everything and nothing at the same time. Always there, the spark that brought about all of creation. As the original creator, they smile upon creators and gentle souls. They are strongest during the spring — the season of new beginnings and life.

The humans in northern Loragio revere Asus and their Light — often viewing them as the one true deity. Devout followers of Asus receive a divine gift, the ability to heal wounds. The gifts are rare. Only a few people receive it in each generation.

Other regions recognize Asus as one of the pantheon, but they hold no more sway than any of the others.

Matron of the Moon — Eluna

Eluna is Asus' life partner, their other half. She is a mother to all of creation and serves as the perfect counterbalance to their Light. Elves view her as their patron goddess, the matron of eternal night who brought moonshine when Asus' light could not pierce the thick trees of the Kadmir Forest.

The priestesses of Eluna meditate with her by sitting in a wading pool as it is known the moon controls the shifting tides. They believe the water allows them to forge a closer relationship with her.

Their plants are blessed with Eluna's moonshine — a supernatural light that encases the foliage and helps them grow. Her divine gifts often benefit the collective. It is very very rare that anyone would receive a personal gift.

The Maidens of Death — Sila and Vahla

Sila and Vahla guide the souls of the dearly departed into the Beyond when their time comes. They are often depicted as mirrored maiden statues, one hand placed over their eyes with the other outstretched to take your hand.

The practice of meditating with Maidens has fallen out of practice in most regions — mostly due to fears of inviting malevolent spirits into their homes — but a few diligent followers still remain. Those that still practice do so because they believe the spirits offer wisdom of a life lived and use the Maidens as a gateway to speak with them in the great beyond.

Notable practitioners: Nemaia Nevarro

God of Good Fortune — Costnas

Costnas is the god of good fortune and luck. Those living on the Veridian Coast and Grenaut call on him more than they do the other houses. Both are known for their trade routes and vast fortunes be it through trade or their mining industry.

Of the gods, Costnas is considered the most elusive and the hardest to forge a connection — even more so than the maidens of death. An old saying from the coast goes: The favor of Costnas shifts as quickly as the tides.

What are the economics of your world like? Do they use money, barter, or something else?

Good question. And one I hadn’t fully fleshed out, so great World Building opportunity for me haha.

In Of Coasts and Courtships — the Veridian Coast uses gold coins as their main form of currency. Elves from the Kadmir Forest use silver. Grenaut, a country to the north, has extensive jewel mines and uses precious stones as a barter, especially among the elite. It was kind of a mess, but they’re working on it.

As we move into Of Yarrow and Daffodils which takes place almost two centuries later, we see a more central form of currency used across the continent — Costs — named after the god of fortune Costnas. It mimics the currency we see in our world — a more paper style of currency with a symbol of Costnas (a key to symbolize unlocking fortune) there is a gold, silver, bronze, and copper leaf inlaid version for the different amounts. There has been a recent implementation of the “credit card” which is a thin strip of crystal inlaid with runes.

(Crystals and metal are large conductors of magic in my world, so a lot of technology uses one of those two things)
