Tbh when I started reading dotc I really wanted to like gray wing, but with every book I was more and more annoyed at him. We all agree that him treating bumble the way he did is ungodly bad but I hate him for so many other reasonssss.

His constant mood swings were annoying, his relationship with turtle tail was boring and kinda bad?? He didn’t love her but couldn’t stand anyone else to be with her. He was a good dad for her kits sure.. but that doesn’t make him automatically good lol. I needed to stop reading when he snapped at Thunder for not wanting to get clear sky to meet his sick mom. Like, leave him alone? Boy had to go on an entire side quest to get you back to tall shadow’s group bc you had a pity party and needed to be alone. And now you want him to get his toxic dad - when you have a whole clan of other warriors who are able to do it - and Thunder said he didn’t want to met his dad, especially after they had an argument and Thunder made his own group he needs to look after now.

I hate how gray wing treats jagged peak for the whole series. Gray telling him he doesn’t deserve to be a dad made me sooo mad. Im so glad Holly came along and helped the boy to be more confident lol. The scene where gray wing snapped at jagged after he got an asthma attack and jagged peak not only saved him from a monster but also offered him to rest (you know - being concerned for his health, like normal people are after someone had an asthma attack and can’t even walk straight) made me so angry at gray wing - him being mad at jagged peak for BEING CONCERNED? What? Gray wing is acting like a big baby right after - leaving the camp to live with the moor cats without telling anyone. He’s like weeeh weehhhh nobody treats me right here and nobody cares, im gonna make anyone worried for no reason at allll.

So yeah, I don’t like gray wing. I don’t like clear sky. I don’t like most of the pov characters (I like Thunder) but I love the main cast and background characters. River ripple, Lightning tail, Jagged peak, Sparrow fur? They are so cool!!!! Tall shadow and Wind runner are also amazing. Gorse fur? I like gorse furrr. Even minor characters like milkweed and leaf were charming. I found the plot kinda interesting but the characters hold the story the most for me. I didn’t really cared for slash nor one eye (one eye was more interesting one tho), but I liked to imaging which cats are gonna join which group as I was reading. Tall shadow autistic girl thinking about the swamp with longing all the time.

Well thank you! This design was actually first created back in 2020 (when I had a deltarune inspired au with the dark forest), it went though a couple of reworks, and now im finally happy with it! So, Star Flower. Poor, poor girl who will have to face the clans cruelty head on. Many, many years in the future her legacy will echo in a myth of a molly who tore out her shining heart to strike the sun-devouring tyrant, but at the start of dotc she's just a young adult trying to find her place in life. Both Star and Bumble were named after their mother, Sister Sprout, who passed shortly after their birth due to a heart condition. The sisters were raised communaly, with their best friends being an orphan One Eye found called Violet, and Sister born tom Slash (who is now reworked to be a part on the friend group and will later join One Eye's family). I'll talk more about their friend dynamic in a later post. I think this au's story will focus on both Bumble and Star Flower, because their actions and the friendships these two built will affect greatly not only the clans way of life and the code, but also how the others percive the clans. And trust me, Star Flower made sure that no one would forget how much destruction the big five could bring.

MEET: Honey Bee

As punishment for Mapleshade’s crimes, she was given the name Shaded Maple and was sent back in time, to the very beginning, in the hopes that seeing the fledgling Clans being formed would remind her of her loyalty, as well as why they needed to stay strong, proud, and separate rather than cross boundaries even in the name of love.

Instead, she found Bumble.

It was a long, arduous process for Shaded Maple to settle into the new time, and longer still for her mind to recover from the point it had been in when she had died, but Bumble - sweet, lovely, beautiful Bumble - helped immensely, endlessly patient and adorably thrilled when Shaded Maple made her announcement that she would be leaving the wilderness behind without hesitation, so long as that meant staying by Bumble’s side.

Their little daughter, Honey Bee, every bit as sweet-natured and short-tempered as her name implied, followed not long after, a perfect mixture of her mothers in personality and a miracle in her own right.

I think so often about Firestar staying true to his kittypet roots. Being led by the kittypets of the past, guiding the future in Skyclan. I would love if the Erin's gave him that follow through

So I've been occasionally peeking at stuff regarding DOTC, in bursts because i hate clear sky and i hate his enabler brother even more. I was looking at tom's behavior, tom the wifebeater, and I realized that after he tries to maim Thunder, he claims that he was only playing, that he misses Bumble, and would like to play with her again. If I may be blunt, the way he says it sends a chill down my spine arguably harder than thistleclaw in spottedleaf's heart, and I already despise that guy, but that'll be a post for another day

It's how he words his behavior, how he almost seems to act childish, even though his abuse of Bumble (rip, queen) was horrific and in places where her owners wouldn't easily see, and he absolutely battered Turtle Tail. "Playing" feels wrong. Not scuffle, not roughhousing, playing. It feels almost as sick as when slash licked star flower. I think we really moved on from how bad Tom The Wifebeater is a smidgen too quick.

Because, and I had this thought after reading those snippets, this may be a reach given how warrior cats is a kids series, but spottedleaf's heart exists; I recall when people were arguing that Mapleshade was babytrapping Appledusk because she didn't like how close reedshine was getting, which is false; she didn't know reedshine's relation at all, it would make sense for her to be defensive, not to mention there are no contraceptives in warriors, and it waters down how bad babytrapping is. But with how Tom speaks about his victims, and how turtle tail was pregnant and the abuse occuring...is it weird of me to suspect that what happened between Turtle n Tom may not have been consentual?
