i do understand people's frustration with how persistently negative fandoms can be, but at the same time when the equivalent is a space where everyone is expected to be overwhelmingly optimistic and accepting and uncritical of even the worst shite in a series and take everything at obtuse face value then yeah fuck I'd pick the haters any day. especially with a series as bad as this one. do you know how annoying it is to have to justify the fact alone that you Have Criticisms.

Kittypets are not a race - it's a lifestyle choice.

Being a kittypet versus a warrior is not like 2 different races.

Its not even like 2 different nationalities of the "same race"

Its literally a lifestyle difference. It's much more akin to warriors are people who move out at 18 and judge their peers who still live with their parents: "why do you live with your parents? Don't you want the freedom of living on your own?" "No, I like my parents, they take care of me and this way I don't have to work 2 jobs like you and I can eat whatever I want"

And even though characters from each lifestyle discriminate against each other, the books actually highlight that neither is better than the other and choosing ones own path is more important.

That's where I think yall are so confused. Is there discrimination in the books? Yes. Clan cats and kittypets discriminate against each other. Different clans discriminate against each other and cats outside of the clans. Discrimination =/= racism or xenophobia.

And I genuinely believe that you don't understand racism and xenophobia if you would choose to apply it to fucking warrior cats, where it just doesn't exist, because you don't understand the difference between discrimination, judgement, and actual fucking racism and xenophobia. Because you sound ridiculous.

Also - I haven't read those later books, I'm still only as far as omen of the stars chronologically, but because of the multiple authors, lots of characters get bad characterizing/ mischaracterisation. I personally think the ashfur in tnp and po3 is a complete mischaracterization after his debut in the original series. The authors completely changed HIS character to make him evil so he could be squirrelflights villian. Is THAT mysoginy? Again. You could validly complain that the multiple authors lack of coordination and bad editing leads to mischaracterisation of characters you like, but its not mysoginy, because it happens to LOTS of characters, not just female characters.

I figure you must be either new, or very good at turning your brain off when it comes to discussions like this, but you're in luck, there are plenty of people here to educate you, and I'll help by giving you a hand! You saying that discrimination and racism are not the same...is factually wrong. Sure, not every type of discrimination is racism, but racism IS a form of discrimination. And the books do not see it as bad, (same for the ableism) but im pretty sure anyone 18 and up can see what's on the page and understand that this is wrong, and that's not even counting the misogyny, which you spelled wrong. I think you need some help, and that's just fine.

So for anyone seeing this: Please reblog with explanations of the xenophobia, misogyny, ableism, COLONIALISM because dotc exists, etc. If you have them, you can even use receipts! I encourage it! Make sure this gets far.

Because this level of ignorance is frankly concerning.

Real victims saw a badly drawn horse comic… and? The block button exists. Not once did Sleepy mock a victim. Not once did the readers mock a victim. The only thing people ever mocked was the constant fake outrage and drama farming. Fans were fed up with people twisting the comic into something it wasn’t, and that’s what got clowned on. Now that you can’t endlessly complain about J.K. Rowling on Reddit anymore, suddenly this comic is your new stage so you can feel important. You’re not protecting anyone, you’re just bored and desperate for attention.

Sleepy and you, bunch of bootlickers, mocked victims of rape and SA the moment you claimed rape by deception wasn't rape. The moment you thought calling a victim Smelly was acceptable. You aren't better than the Potterheads who deny SA too.

Victim mocking (indirect): pierces playing literal games with a literal serial rapist to try to one-up him like this is some kind of elementary school spat out in the parking lot during recess and then goes off on some stupid fucking quest for a stupid fucking dragon and her mother to continue to suffer as every single page has her either crying or frowning

Actual victim: I'm not going to block this comic because I'm so amazed that it actually exists tbh. I'm also not the type to block something just because I don't like it. If I'm actually so offended that I get PTSD flashbacks then I won't read it at all and just call it trash but instead I am here talking about it because I liked following this artist and the turn in storytelling is surprising to me. The whole thing is surprising to me.

So I've been occasionally peeking at stuff regarding DOTC, in bursts because i hate clear sky and i hate his enabler brother even more. I was looking at tom's behavior, tom the wifebeater, and I realized that after he tries to maim Thunder, he claims that he was only playing, that he misses Bumble, and would like to play with her again. If I may be blunt, the way he says it sends a chill down my spine arguably harder than thistleclaw in spottedleaf's heart, and I already despise that guy, but that'll be a post for another day

It's how he words his behavior, how he almost seems to act childish, even though his abuse of Bumble (rip, queen) was horrific and in places where her owners wouldn't easily see, and he absolutely battered Turtle Tail. "Playing" feels wrong. Not scuffle, not roughhousing, playing. It feels almost as sick as when slash licked star flower. I think we really moved on from how bad Tom The Wifebeater is a smidgen too quick.

Because, and I had this thought after reading those snippets, this may be a reach given how warrior cats is a kids series, but spottedleaf's heart exists; I recall when people were arguing that Mapleshade was babytrapping Appledusk because she didn't like how close reedshine was getting, which is false; she didn't know reedshine's relation at all, it would make sense for her to be defensive, not to mention there are no contraceptives in warriors, and it waters down how bad babytrapping is. But with how Tom speaks about his victims, and how turtle tail was pregnant and the abuse occuring...is it weird of me to suspect that what happened between Turtle n Tom may not have been consentual?

I feel like a lot of people in the fanmade xenofiction community, and by extention the warrior cats community have forgotten something deeply important.

I had looked at tumblr posts regarding The Dragon Slayer, and the criticism makes sense, people are valid to critique things, especially if something about it feels seriously wrong. They don't tag the creator, they don't go into their dms and blast hate, they're passionate, but chill in their own blogs, because they know that harassment isn't okay.

And that's something that the more fiercer defenders don't seem to get. I'm not gonna lie, some of you get real nasty with people stating their opinion about how maybe there's way to much sexual assault or "almost assaults" in that series. In fact, some of you are so adamant that the creator must be protected that you ignore those criticisms because to many of you "These characters aren't real", even the one where the creator says, for some reason, that what s'melie went through wasn't rape, even though it is; she was coerced. On the pages. We've seen it, especially the poor folk on deviantart how got little to no warning, making how the creator talked about them on comicfury all the more disrespectful. It reminds me of the moonpaw discourse in some way, and that makes me a little sick. So I think something should be made very clear.

The characters may not be real, but the victims of that trauma very much are. For all you know, the people criticizing it may be victims themselves. Please keep that in mind before you say something thoughtless. It's shameful.

That said...does anyone else think that's going to happen to Tigerstar's death? The most impactful moment in the series where the bane of the clan gets torn open like a Piñata?

BlackSol feels oddly boring. Y'all can make it worse.

Sol's manipulating a bunch of people who are dependant on Starclan, signs, omens, and prophecies. He's actively using their culture against them to get what he wants. He also wasn't good at being a warrior, and to be honest, a bit of a manchild. He has to hide behind an admittedly poor, but cunning facade, and has Blackstar wrapped around his paws.

Meanwhile, we have Blackstar falling back into mannerisms he had when he was under Brokenstar and Tigerstar. He listens and acts accordingly due to now shattered faith. He's not really Blackstar anymore, but he's still Blackfoot, and now Sol has to act carefully. He hears the other shadowclan cats talk, and he has to carefully weave him the way he wants without getting caught in the crossfire.

He's been drunk off someone's power for so long, that he's only just seeing the blood caked in those black paws. He won't let go, and he's too far in. After all, considering Blackstar's actions as a warrior and deputy, what would he do the second he turns around?
