{ Minho }:
Girls. In Minho’s reliable memory, there had only been Teresa and then the mysterious ladies in white robes working for WICKED, or the female cranks that had been out there all over the Scorch. But girls. Girls of their age with murder in their eyes, weapons and klunk in their hands and their long hair flowing down their shoulders —— charming. Minho couldn’t have helped himself with the way he stared even when Newt had told him to shut his ‘shuckin face hole’. Even Fry called him hopeless. Minho didn’t care. They had worked hard in the Glade and he wouldn’t deny himself of some female company. He probably wasn’t subtle as he approached the dark-haired girl. (It was too dark to tell whether her hair was actually black, brown or other dark shades, but hey he wasn’t picky and he could wait until the sun rose so he could figure it out.) The girl regarded him with caution, but that wasn’t going to stop him. Somehow he managed a chat with her, and that was how it began. First a small chat, with luck, Cosette, the girl that was, didn’t try to get away from him like he were a plague. That boosted his self-confidence enough, and that confidence was what drove him to give her a peck on the cheek when it was time to part and say goodnight. He turned away too quick to see the reaction from her, though. He’d find out in the morning.

When they'd met up with the boys, it had been strange at first. Cosette and the other girls weren't exactly used to being near members of the opposite sex, aside from Aris, that was. But he had been Rachel's jurisdiction and Cosette hadn't paid him much mind back in the Maze. And now, they were travelling with an entire pack of boys. Cosette had been sure never to let her guard down around them, just in case. So, when Minho approached her, she'd been weary at first, but after a few minutes, she'd given in and allowed herself a conversation with him. He was different, but in a good way.
They'd chatted for an hour or two. It was quiet, the only sound besides the low hum of their voices had been the breathing of sleeping Gladers all around them. The moon in the sky was huge and they talked about everything. It was nice to have someone there like that, it left a strange feeling in the pit of her stomach.
When the pair had decided to finally head to bed, she hadn't been expecting the cheek kiss, but it left her skin feeling tingly. She'd come to the conclusion that maybe travelling with this group of boys wouldn't be so bad. Then, she drifted off to sleep.
