My friends and I made this cool video.
Walt Disney World Summer Project 2014 presents #BrandNew. A video about knowing Jesus and sharing his story.
Bright young women sick of swimming. Ready to stand!
I am exhausted. I am sleepy. I am tired. Work on Tuesday was very discouraging. Our ice machine broke while I was in charge of it and it was really stressful. We also ran out of bottled water in the back and I had to go up and down stairs carrying cases of water to thirsty guests. I went to sleep around 4:30 am. It was just a very negative work day and I'm having a hard time with closing the restaurant every night. Pray that I get rest and understanding for my position at Casey's Corner. Usually I love working there! On a more positive note, yesterday was Women's Day. We woke up to be ready at 9:15, and the guys from project gave us flowers and doughnuts for the day! So that was great.
We also went to build your own pancake place, where we had skillets in our tables! And we made a Mickey Mouse pancake with the free chocolate chips they gave us! We also had extended quiet time with Jesus reflecting what we have learned so far over project. After that we all went swimming. The water. was. freezing.
This is Christine, Joy and I huddling for warmth. After all of the bright young women were sick of swimming (haha get it? ha I'm dumb) we went back to the place we're staying and had pizza and went to learn from our amazing staff women. After the sessions with staff were over, we were brought to the edge of the resort we were staying at and all got crowns and got to hear what our disciplers had to say about each one of us. Tears were shed by many, (obviously me) and it was wonderful. We ended the day with ice cream and it was glorious.
Stay tuned! Stay praying! Stay blessed! - Emily
The rain rain rain came down down down!
I've started on-the-job training, finished my last day of Orientation! Work is a little stressful, but I really do love Casey's Corner. I haven't trained at all for Tomorrowland Terrace, but I will do so eventually. Eeeee yay! I can't even begin to describe how happy I am when I can say that I work for Walt Disney World. Like what even? I've wanted this for years. I was reading my journal in past entries (actually June 12th, 2013) and it said, "...I just want to go to Disney World..." And tomorrow I'm going to Walt Disney World again. To work, and to help make all our wishes come true! Last night after a nap, dinner, and orientation I went back to Magic Kingdom with super cool people. I also had my first experience with Dole Whip. And it was delicious and wonderful, but I wasn't expecting it to be so huge! It was raining the entire time we were there, so the eight of us helped me finish my soft serve vanilla ice cream with pineapple juice. The Magic Kingdom was amazing as always, and it cleared up to watch Wishes! and Celebrate the Magic (which is the newer castle projection show right before and after the fireworks). I also rode the Teacups and Dumbo for the first time ever!
Today I went to Coca Beach again, with the rest of WDWSP14 this time! We left earlier than expected to avoid the rain, but unfortunately, it started pouring right when we got there. We were supposed to talk to people about spirituality on the beach, but it was pouring. So we got into pairs and Katie and I just prayed for the summer, for the people there, and for hearts to be soften to hearing about Jesus. It was tons of fun though, because some crazy people played out in the rain (i.e. me)
The rained cleared a little bit and some of us got to go surfing! Including me! I don't have any pictures because it was at the beach. It was so cool. Like legit, I surfed. It was a little difficult because I really have no balance, but four times I got on a wave, at least to my knees. On the last time out, I got to my feet on the surfboard, and then I fell. Ah, the life of Emily. It's still raining here, but it's been a nice couple of days. I'll keep you all updated! Pray for clarity, my roommates, and for this summer!
and tomorrow's just a dream away!
tomorrow I will wake up, go to church, get myself ready, and then head to on-the-job training at Casey's Corner in Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. We've had three days of orientation at Disney University, and have also gotten our free access to the parks (which is why I haven't been on much.) I've been to Magic Kingdom twice, and today we went to Animal Kingdom. I feel like I'm going to fall asleep while writing this. Just so you all know, I've cried of happiness about being here. Prayers for safety, courtesy, show and efficiency to happen when I start working would be greatly appreciated. I'll have a better post sometime soon. (with pictures!)
I will be a cast member at Tomorrowland Terrace in Tomorrowland and Casey's Corner on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom :) I start work on Sunday.
if you are looking for ways to pray for this Summer Project, you can always start with prayers that support for all students will be raised. Thanks to The Lord and many families, I am overly funded, but many students here need money to stay, or they will leave halfway through when the Cru staff leave. To fully maximize our time here with God and with the relationships we will make with our coworkers, we want everyone to stay! Thanks guys!
