We Went Back - Game Review
This free, short horror game is all about the little details.
“We Went Back is a time-looping horror game in which you wake up in an abandoned space station utterly alone. The exit door is locked and you must find a way to escape what lurks within. Find clues, experience dynamically changing environments and confront terror in order to find a way out.”
This game follows you waking up on an abandoned space station.
Alone?
All of the ISWM Glitches I Could Find in Mark’s “We Went Back” video
Dorean Damien/Cellne
“I’d love some coffee.”
Cryo pods
Dull colors, particles everywhere. Reminiscent of the Upside Down in Markiplier’s Manor. Mark’s voice echoes “captain” a second later.
The second after this creature bursts out, there’s a warbling noise. It sounds almost exactly like the noise in DAMIEN, when Damien is struck with horror-visions of dead Actor Mark.
Screaming sound after this, followed by some crashing. I haven’t played the game, but the audio, in my opinion, is too crisp to be within the game’s audio. This could be a sound bite from Part 2.
There’s someone in his cryo pod...
New dialogue: “I think I’m supposed to be asleep. [Audio gets a little muffled, but it sounds like:] I don’t think I am no more.”
[This could be a reach.] After Mark finds a severed hand in this area, he goes on a mini monologue on how “it” is showing him where he was stupid [whether this is referring to him not finding the hand in the first place, or he’s referring to something in In Space With Markiplier, I’m not sure]. He also talks about how he was not able to solve the problem that was “right in front of [his] face.”
Coolant leak
“This is futile.”
Lots of sound effects in this scene that don’t sound like they’re from the game. Screams and blows. Possible death. Unable to fully decipher.
Mark is strangled to death in the game. As he falls to the ground, he says, “Why does this feel familiar?” There was no prior scene in this game where this happens, and no reason why he would say this.
Another flash of Dorean at the end of Mark’s intro. The frame is a lot longer, so it doesn’t require a pause to key through the frames to find her.
I have 2 braincells rn and they are both convinced that Observation and We Went Back are somehow connected in this essay I will
