When someone says Ron is dumb I just laugh at their face cuz that boy was a master at chess at 12 no sorry I think it was 11. And do you know what YOU need to play chess??? Strategy. You need a strategic brain to understand you opponents weakness and make your move. You can't just move pieces to wherever place you wish. And if I need to remind you this 11/12 year old boy won against the game McGonagall had set for a grown ass adult. I mean obviously she wouldn’t have made it easy so that some 1st years could just easily pass it NOW would she? and the goal of chess is to keep your king safe while you attack the opponent team. But guess what? Ron had to make sure three pieces on their side was safe, The king, Harry and Hermione. SO THE NEXT TIME YOU PEOPLE CALL RON DUMB AND THAT HE DIDN'T DESERVE HERMIONE THINK TWICE ABOUT IT.
