@fredandgeorgenet‘s first creation event: weasley’s wizard wheezes

harry and hermione first introduced fred and george to youtube in the summer after the triwizard tournament. naturally, fred and george decided to make a video about the business venture they were making: Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.of course, they needed harry or hermione on hand just in case something went wrong with the camera, and they had no idea how to edit their videos. plus, the rest of their family and everyone else who was staying at grimmauld place had no clue what they were doing and would often walk in to their room when they were in the middle of filming (it was mostly ron). but their first video, titled “we’re opening a shop” went up in that summer, and their channel started amassing viewers, many of whom were muggles who thought the magical aspect of their jokes was a further part of the joke. nevertheless, they grew quite popular with muggles.

after the battle of hogwarts, harry and hermione took it upon themselves to convince fred and george to expand their joke shop into the muggle world, selling muggle versions of their products. the twins, of course, agreed, because they would never pass up an opportunity to make people laugh, and no other wizarding shop had muggle branches, and they were all about doing things no one else had before.

they hired multiple muggle engineers to help them build their first muggle shop - they were keeping the brand “Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes” but to the average muggle it was just magic tricks and jokes, so they needed to find a way to make things look similar and have a similar layout to their shop in diagon alley, without using magic. in the end, it looked really similar, and the twins were in awe of what ordinary muggles could do. they decided to film another video, a tour of their shop, because they were so proud of it, and to let people know that they were open for business.

up until that point, they didn’t know about instagram, until one of the comments on their video said “found your instagram and it lead me to this channel! so glad i found it, this is amazing!!”. as it turned out, hermione and harry, with the help of ron and ginny, had made them an instagram account around the time they started the youtube channel, and had been running it ever since. they gave the twins the password, but fred and george decided to let them keep running it.

and later on, when ron started working with them after he realised being an auror just wasn’t for him, it became a part of his official job to keep all their social media running.
