I think someone should make a website that hosts a directory of 1000s of public domain classic cartoons (Oswald, Mickey Mouse, Felix The Cat, Disney's Alice Comedies etc), and put them up for free download!! has anyone done that yet?

my dream quotev replacement site
this is just me rambling about a silly little dream/idea i have that will never come to be because i have no coding skills whatsoever and no knowledge about site building or anything but yeah
basically, i had this idea the other night about this site that organises your profile like a desk, with spacehey levels of customisation and today i messed around in canva with random images from the internet to come up with the roughest mock-up to ever exist
like, does anyone see the vision??? everything could be customisable, so it'd be a reflection of you. also i couldn't quite fit everything in but i also imagine that there could be posters on a wall in the back so you can show off your interests. ooh and you could add a record player to autoplay music like on spacehey/myspace.
your desk could become so cluttered with things omg. maybe an address book to show who you're following/who follows you. maybe badges. ooh maybe friends can gift you flowers that sit in a vase on your desk
and the site would have options to write original fiction or fanfiction, but you can also microblog or do longer journal entries.
ooh and you'd be able to hide stuff too, like you can on q. if you want to hide your diary from everyone, it disappears from your desk. if you turn off messages, your phone vanishes, etc, etc.
and just to keep myself fully delusional, i keep telling myself that if i ever do somehow miraculously learn how to code and make this into a website, to maintain the cost of the website it could just have ad banners like quotev does.
and ofc it would have all the features of old quotev. the feed !!! groups !!! messages AND the message box because i strangely miss it.
I've been thinking a lot about how computer literacy and Tech literacy aren't high enough on average for the population to immediately detect bullshit in Tech news and such, and also how when I'm teaching, or training new employees, even people who are otherwise using computers all the time don't necessarily have a strong understanding of things like file structures, cloud storage, privacy, or security functions.
so I was thinking that this is a bit of a gap that we could maybe try and fill with things like zines, and videos, and other bite-sized content to help people start to build a baseline knowledge again.
I'm not going to be suddenly producing a huge pile of content on this subject, but, what I can do is pick a domain, host it, and throw a WordPress or something up so that I can start to collect any examples of this sort of thing that I can find on the internet in one place.
so, question, does this seem useful to you? what kind of mediums sounds most accessible on first glance? what should we call it? what should the domain be? and do you happen to know of anything like this that I could start linking to as I put this together?
Business website idea:
I think there should be a website called the ADHD Exchange. And its only purpose is a trading website wherein you put your latest, yet now completely DEAD, adhd obsession to sell allll the shit you just bought.
And in exchange you can go and buy some other adhd-ers shit that you are NOW obsessing over.
This is a brilliant plan and you can't convince me otherwise.
Pronoun Practice Website Idea
TL;DR: Anyone want to make a website like Duo Lingo for learning and becoming proficient at someone else's pronouns?
Dear Trans Programming Community (of which I know is vast) or Allies,
I had this idea the other day of a website where you can plug in someone's pronouns and their name and practice using their name and pronouns in various sentences sort of like Duo Lingo but to learn and become more comfortable with someone's pronouns. (I am not a program savvy person, though I know I could learn. This website idea is quite complex though so I thought if I could outsource it someone might feel inspired.)
Practicing things by saying them out loud has always been helpful in creating new patterns in the brain. And especially pronouns like "they/them" (which are mine) or neo pronouns (which I can definitely use some practice with) it can take a while for the brain to go through the process of replacing the assumed/past pronoun with the correct pronoun every time before it's able to bypass that pattern and be able to connect the person directly with the correct pronoun. (Same way you learn someone's new name.)
I feel like this would be helpful because allies/accomplices and friends often go through that awkward stage of stuttering/guilt (their own) when learning to adjust their language. This website might be able to mitigate that uneasy phase of learning so that the person whose pronoun is being corrected might not have to go through as much public discomfort. (I recently had a coworker who I adore get very angry at being reminded of my pronoun because it triggered the negative way her language was corrected as child by her parents. She wanted to learn my pronouns without being prompted. This website would be an option.)
I suppose one way it could work is to have a page that is basic grammar having to do with the specific pronoun, then a quiz on the grammar. Then have sentences to practice verbally using pronouns and then, last, have fill in the blank sentences where you're expected to choose/fill in the appropriate pronoun and form of that pronoun included with the person's name. (Things could get tricky with people who don't have pronouns and go by their name alone. But I think there could be an option for that as well with some adjustments.)
I feel like the sooner we can teach those willing to learn how to be more comfortable learning pronouns without having to be put on the spot and feeling shame (that is then projected to us, who are the pronoun havers) the sooner it can become a more intrinsic part of our culture and society. And it takes us out of the equation for being in the firing range of those emotions. And it gives power to allies and accomplices to practice that allyship on their own time. So I hope there's an accomplice or trans person who feels led to take this project on. And I'd eventually like to see it in other languages as well!
Thank you for your time!
I HAD A SHOWER THOUGHT
So basically... It's a way for AI to (somewhat) be useful for the art community. Hear me out!
What I'm proposing as an idea is this; It'd be a website/app that analyzes your art, and critiques it while giving you helpful tips to make your art better, based off of ways that worked well for others! The AI wouldn't make its own art, and would only use the art it critiqued to help yours be better too! (Of course people would have to agree upon signing up to letting the website/app use its art for critiquing others.) (The website would also give credit to the creator by automatically putting their username on the bottom left of the timelapse)
So basically I think the process would go like this-
1- Sign up & make an account
2- Submit a timelapse of you drawing your art piece.
3- Let it process the information (How you drew certain things, anatomy, colors and shading, etc)
4- It rates your art out of a certain number of points. Each category gets rated out of 10 (Accuracy, Color theory, proportions, art style).
5- Gives you tips & tricks for making your art better, even sending you a clip of someone else's timelapse if there is one!
I'm not good at programming, but I think it'd be pretty cool! Programmers, you can make this if you want. Just a shower thought though, after all. But hey, it'd be a pretty cool way for AI to redeem itself in the art community! At least, it would be in my opinion!
Let me know what you think, though!
Social media called the friendzone would be epic as hell
