Gil Scot-Heron once spoke famously "Ain't No New Thing" . The slides are an excerpt from the Article "How Racism Created America's Chinatowns" by Braden Goyette. . "During the exclusion era, it was difficult for Chinese immigrants to find a place to live outside of Chinatown. "In the broadest strokes, Chinatowns were products of extreme forms of racial segregation," explains Ellen D. Wu, a history professor at Indiana University Bloomington and author of The Color Of Success: Asian Americans And The Origins Of The Model Minority. "Beginning in the late 19th century and really through the 1940s and '50s, there was what we can call a regime of Asian exclusion: a web of laws and social practices and ideas designed to shut out Asians completely from American life." . "That's really how Chinatowns came into being," Wu adds, "not how we think about them now, as a fun place to get a meal or buy some tchotchkes, but as a way to contain a very threatening population in American life." . #antiracism #antioppression #stopaapihate #stopthehate #notyourmodelminority #racismisavirus #stopasianhate #wefight #weresist #wewillwin #outfittingtherevolution #deconstructtheconstruct #blackonblackbk #itslifeordeathforus #intersectionality #civilrights #humanrights #equality #equalityforall no #racism, #xenophobia #alliesandchampions #notagame #resistance (at Bedford-Stuyvesant) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMkGb6RBidz/?igshid=1ibgm6tlobiv9
The drive up to the house felt like the longest twenty minutes of his life.
Maybe the worst part of it was the fact that he knew he couldn’t just
spit it out the instant they got there. That... shit. They at least should
have a little while to have a good time before shit got serious. Before
he’d have to potentially destroy his relationship with his mom and older
sister.
Just sitting there, he was quickly able to psyche himself out, expression
unusually blank. Even as the car stopped and the driver began to help
the pair with their things, Louis’s expression got all the more worried.
“...This is gonna suck,” The younger of the two boys huffed out under
his breath, only for him to breathe a quick breath out. Bringing his
hands up, he was quick with his motion to gently slap both of his
cheeks with his hands, as though to smack away the bad vibes. With
that came a way too convincing fake smile, one that very few in his
life would even be able to tell was fake in the first place.
“Well, this is the place,” Louis was hastily trying to divert attention
from his performance, instead more willing to talk about the sizable
house before them. The house itself appeared to rival the admin
building at Ericson’s in terms of how large it was, if just a tad larger
width wise. Still, it looked excessive, especially given it was a home
that only housed three people, with only two of them living in it
regularly. “Ready to see how big it is on the inside?” He teased.
they’re on edge when he’s around and even more so when he’s not-- seated here and there, eating alone or just seated on the stairs sharpening his knives. how he got involved with a bunch of teenagers? he supposes weird timing, out scouting for clues about memories best left buried. unknown. but among the stares and louis constantly poking fun at the archer’s ears sticking out of his hair, he doesn’t mind aasim ( or any of the kids to be honest. ). bonded would be a very strong word, but the small talks while collecting rabbits and setting traps feel a lot like the old daryl back when things were somewhat normal. ❝ ya ever go huntin’ before? ❞ a small pause in between to chew his bottom lip while he waited for aasim to reset the rabbit trap. ❝ i heard yer people talkin’ bout supplies runnin’ low and thought we could catch somethin’ big like a deer if we’re lucky. ❞
Normally the wandering woman would never let herself be caught so close to any sort of signs of a community, and these kids could not have made their hunting grounds any more obvious if they tried, but today was one of desperation. She needed furs, rabbit fur specifically, and something to eat before things got any worse than they already were.
The first rabbit was incredibly easy to get. She found it caught in one of their traps and killed it to take for herself. Unfortunately, it was too small to be enough for her needs all on its own, she was going to need another one, a bigger one.
Valin didn’t have a chance to start looking for the den herself before sharp ears caught on to the sound of someone coming her way. Rather than take off running, as she normally would have, the woman took cover behind a nearby tree.Knife in hand as she watched him do her job for her, scaring the rabbits out of hiding until there were several of them hopping away in different directions.
One of those directions happened to be right where she was hiding...
Snikt
She was much faster than the kid or the rabbit and before he could draw his bow her knife was already flying through the air. Thrown with enough force that it sank deep into the animal’s body, killing it instantly. Perfect. It was even close to the size that she wanted. Now she just had to go get it without being shot with an arrow in the process.
Send a 👫and I’ll write four headcanons I have about our muse’s relationship - ACCEPTING
This is one is going to be a long one then!
Brody
- I can imagine that Frank taunts her a lot, she looks like a lost lamb, that she deserves to be here in this hell, after all, she betrayed her pack and he hates traitors
- I’d like to think that whenever Brody is in a trial with him, he tries to kill her last, to punish her, he often slugs the other survivors to empathize it, that she is forced to run and hide or risk her life to save the others (He really doesn’t like her)
- Outside of the trial, he either ignores her completely or snarls harmful things at her: “Like do you even remember their faces?” “How could you do this to your own pack members?” “Be ashamed of yourself, at least someone had the guts to kill you quickly.”
- He sometimes teases her with lies and stuff like Oh look, Marlon is here, he is coming for you, he is one of us now and he hates her Dreams of the Ocean Perk, it’s always annoying for him when survivor find the hatch, way too early and quickly.
—
Omar
- He loves being in a trial with Omar, he is the easiest to find and loves slugging people so that Omar can pick them up just to down both of them, also easier to find other survivors when he is nearby because they tend to flock together.
- Outside of the trials he always watches them from afar, smelling the delicious food Omar is cooking and is quite jealous of it, though he never dares to approach them.
- He doesn’t dislike Omar unlike Aasim or Brody, but they’re not friends either, he tolerates his presence I’d say, at least he provides and cares for his pack members.
- Don’t Fuck with Us is a well-liked perk by Frank, it’s always more fun the longer the chase is, he loves running after Omar, chasing him, waiting until the very last second to strike, especially if he wants to vault windows. It’s a game for Frank whether he is fast enough or not.
—
Aasim
- Absolutely hates him, he is the most annoying one of all the survivors, hates being stunned, being revealed and all his shitty booby traps he kicks them anyway but calls Aasim lots of names while doing it
- Often throws rocks or dirt at Aasim whenever they’re outside of a trial, just to be a bitch to him, often leaves dead and rotten animals in their realm as a “gift” for him
- Moris him every time it is possible just to empathize how much he hates him and his annoying gadgets, sadly the entity isn’t all to please about it and often punish Frank for it.
- Hardest survivor to catch for Frank, often loses him while feral frenzying.
—
Violet
- Frank’s favourite survivor of their little group, she is the most fun to play with and actually strikes back which he likes very much, thank you very much.
- I can imagine him having a little crush on her, cuz he loves people who can kick his ass, especially girl though he never acted on it nor realized after, he is a killer and she is a survivor and too moody of him.
- Often waves or greets her outside of a trial, is somewhat friendly to her, sometimes even approach her and asks her questions, though he always calls her a moody bitch while doing that
- He loves her Hear link perk since it makes everything so much easier for him since he is already stabbing everyone multiple times and quite good at it too, thanks to that perk he only has to stab three people instead of four.
