🪸 𝒜/𝒩 ࿐ ˊˎ- Next part! So sorry this took a bit I had to work the Mother’s Day weekend and it was HELLISH. I would come back home just utterly exhausted and just couldn’t do much. I hope you’ve been enjoying this!
Edit: Forgot to mention, I’m hoping to one day make maybe a story based off these two but like… I want it to be an extreme slow burn 🤭. I do hope to maybe post a smut piece on them too.
🏝️ 𝒢𝓊𝒾𝒹𝑒 ࿐ ˊˎ- Jiejie = Older sister, Didi = Younger brother, Xiongzhang = Older brother (but in a more formal way).
Lán Xīchén was one of the few mers that were not raised in the wild, but grew up in the facility, just like the rest of his pod. He and his brother were one of the easiest mers to handle, but out of the two, Lán Xīchén was also the most friendliest.
Some of the researchers were concerned that the brothers seemingly had no desire to find mates, both evidently content with being and taking care of one another.
But that soon changed when two rescues were brought in.
It was clear they were siblings and after some observation, it was determined that the female was the older sibling of the two.
The male was extremely mischievous and always was clinging onto his sister. He was also what many would call a “problem child”. Although there were a few times where he got aggressive, that was mainly only due to if he or his sister was in distress.
The sister was more volatile and was highly protective of her brother. She preferred to stay hidden when she could.
It was difficult to get them to cooperate when it came to doing checkups or observations for studies, and no one was sure who was more difficult, it kinda depended on the day.
But with time and Xiǎo Xīngchén’s unyielding patience, the female, Wèi Míngyuè , and the male, Wèi Wúxiàn , soon settled into their new environment and healed from their injuries.
Everyone got to see Wèi Míngyuè become more livelier and it was touching and a relief to see progress.
The next thing the team wanted to try was to get them to socialize and maybe even join the main pod if they’d like. Several of the others wanted the Wèi siblings to stay, but there were some that believed they were too wild spirited and would long to go back to being on their own.
When Xiǎo Xīngchén determined that they were ready, the Wèi siblings were soon introduced to the pod. The pod consisted of several other mer creatures that were either rescued and or were born in the sanctuary.
The moment the gates opened, Wèi Wúxiàn took off like a bullet, drinking in his new surroundings and immediately beginning to socialize with others by being playful.
Meanwhile Wèi Míngyuè was more cautious, eyeing anyone that was near her or her brother with a dagger-like stare with her unsettling red pupiless eyes, daring them to hurt him or come close.
Xiǎo Xīngchén, Niè Míngjué, Mèng Yáo, Wēn Qíng, and Niè Huáisāng were the ones watching the progress with excitement, the younger Niè practically wiggling on the spot.
“Oh look!! Wèi Wúxiàn seems to have just encountered Lán Wàngjī !” Niè Huáisāng gasps excitedly. “What do you think will happen?”
Wēn Qíng scoffs, adjusting her glasses. “Lán Wàngjī will more than likely brush him aside. Wèi Wúxiàn is too excitable for him.”
“I agree with Wēn Qíng,” Niè Míngjué smirks, leaning back more into his rolling chair.
“Of course you would, she’s your wife after all~.”
“That and because we all know how Wàngjī is.”
A soft chuckle comes from Xiǎo Xīngchén.
“What’s so fun-?”
Niè Huáisāng gasps suddenly again, his eyes wild with excitement. “Oh my god he’s chasing him!! That’s so unlike him!”
Sure enough the 5 watched with shock as Lán Wàngjī swims furiously after the black scaled mer, and Wèi Wúxiàn is obviously having the time of his life, confusing and frustrating the baby blue and white scaled mer.
Suddenly laughter fills the room and some make sure it’s on recording for memories.
“Let’s check on Míngyuè now,” Wēn Qíng says after clearing her throat.
Wèi Míngyuè was still hiding for the most part, although she was closely watching her brother and the other mer that was chasing him.
Unbeknownst to her though, and much to the other’s surprise, Lán Xīchén was locked onto her, watching with much fascination and slowly inch closer each time she drifted away.
“Well would you look at that? Xīchén better watch himself,” Niè Míngjué snorts. “Ā-Yáo, try and get him to move away or something before he gets whacked.”
Mèng Yáo looks worried the second Míngjué brings it up and he tries to figure out a way to get his mer’s attention, but it’s no use. Like a crow drawn to something shiny, Lán Xīchén was still entranced.
Xiǎo Xīngchén hums softly before calmly saying, “Let’s take a chance. Lán Xīchén is smart, he wouldn’t do anything silly.”
Niè Míngjué only chuckles.
It’s only a matter of time and Wèi Míngyuè soon senses another presence near her. She used her tail to whack whoever it was that was so close before lunging at them full speed, tumbling in the sand before pinning them down with a ferocious snarl.
Lán Xīchén only stares at her with awe before snapping out of it, baring his neck to her in submission. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t mean any harm.”
The team watches with bated breaths, except Mèng Yáo who is already moving to get a wetsuit on, ready to go save his mer.
Wèi Míngyuè is glaring into the white and azure blue scaled mer’s soul, but he seems as calm as ever, still in this vulnerable position for her.
“Xiōngzhǎng!”
“Wàngjī don’t!” Lán Xīchén immediately says just as the woman pinning him snarls at his dìdi.
Wèi Wúxiàn soon comes over, wrapping his arms around Wèi Míngyuè. “Jiĕjie it’s okay! They’re not going to hurt us.”
The mer that was chasing him helps the older one up, casting a frigid glare in their direction.
Lán Xīchén had some scratches on his shoulders and the team knew he had to get those checked right away.
“Oh thank god,” Mèng Yáo breathes out, sinking into a chair. “I need a drink. After checking on Ā-Huàn first though.”
“He really could have been shredded to ribbons,” Niè Huáisāng notes while nodding his head, ignoring the weak glare Mèng Yáo gave him.
Thankfully the Wèi siblings drift away from the Láns. Wèi Míngyuè grabs a hold of Wèi Wúxiàn’s wrists as he continues to cling onto her. Once she was a bit calmer she sighs. “Did you still want to play?”
“XiànXiàn wants to play!” he replies, nodding his head eagerly with a puppy dog smile on his face.
“You’re not 4, Ā-Yīng,” she chuckles.
“You’re right! I’m 3!”
