Did anyone ever talk about Mutt's name? I did a double take when I heard it but after devouring S2 it was one of those things that got lost in the final 15. But like. "Mutt" is a slang term for a dog. babycentre.com reports 5 Mutts in 1922 then nothing so not a common name. It feels like a definite choice and not one that I feel good about.

It feels racist to me but I don't know if I'm seeing stuff that's not there? (But then I wonder if I'm overcorrecting because I don't want to see EVERYTHING as bad faith given what we now know because it gets dull quickly being accused of that all the time)

But also maybe I'm even more 👀 about it because Mutt's spouse is the only human enby character and has no name? That feels Not Good (and I've posted about it before).

Idk maybe I just should shove it onto the pile of weird choices that were made about character names in S2. Maggie and Nina being given their real life names as their character's names. Mutt and his spouse. Nina's abusive partner being given a name that can be used for both men and women but the script working really hard to avoid using pronouns for them. It's just odd.

(Yes I have read what NG has to say about it [x, y, z] and I don't give him the benefit of the doubt any more.)

Post+ Summary

For those who are curious but don't want to mess with it, here's a quick overview of the process as I experienced it.

1. There is a setup where you have to provide banking and other personal information to Stripe. It doesn't look like Tumblr has access to this information (but YMMV). It's pretty standard information for anyone accepting money in some capacity, but it would not be useful for donation purposes, so far as I can tell.

2. During the setup, you also create a bio and add what perks you can provide.

3. Once you're setup, there appears a new option in your posts (just those you create, thankfully) to show the post to anyone or to subscribers. So far, this is blog specific (one blog has it, the other doesn't).

4. The post screen looks like this (note the little lock in the top right, which may be your only clue about what your post will do):

6. There is also a bio that you can write that people can see. And it looks like this. Also, during setup, you pick the subscription amount from one of four choices. So there's not setting it to 10 cents.

7. And there's a new button when someone views your profile.

All in all, not to intrusive but also, not super intuitive. Now you know. Have fun. I totally don't plan on keeping this active past a week or so to see if it has any other negative effects because monetizing fan content is a gray area I'm not willing to even consider.

Ah, I can do these again! The new event will start this week, and it already seems more promising in many ways! Let's see what Tiny co has in store: - One of the first lines says how they're been Listening to fans and will add more dialogue and story. Yes, all of the yes. - Abomination and random people made Hulks will attack, and holy shit, that's scary. - 2 'New' characters seem to be coming, Continuing on the same line as this last event. Skaar, Hulk's son. Hulk's not even the first guy on the academy to receive a surprise children... Poor young parents; and... Rick Jones? Not A-Bomb, they seem to be making a completely new character... I'll reserve judegment until I see him. - They Explicitly say that Hulk and Red Hulk will be recruitable (Even though Hulk can be obtained through story, he shouldnt waste a spot...). However, it also mentions all Hulk/Gamma related heroes showing up again. I smell Crate. - 3 new outfits following the line of this event. One for the new guy Skaar, one for Hulk, and another for Vision. - After this event... A Jessica Jones event? That... Is so odd... Infinity War seems like what should come next but... We'll see. I'll gladly kick That guy's butt if he shows up.

okay I have a BONE to PICK (and not a fun bone) with the Strange New Worlds writers about 3x05 Through the Lens of Time. Spoilers below the cut.

I'm sorry, but who the fuck thought that they should introduce a new character who was a young black man, then four episodes later have him get possessed by something that makes him hyper-violent and aggressive until a white lady has to shoot him to stop him?

like, what? that's what we thought would be a good thing to do?

I mean, don't even get me started on the general bullshit of introducing a minor (POC) character and then saying they've really bonded with a main cast member just so you have someone unimportant to kill off a couple episodes later. but like. come the fuck on.
