After Andrea died (a big remix from the comics) in s3, Gimple became showrunner in s4. Now, after Carl died (a really big remix from the comics) in s8, Kang will be showrunner in s9.
so, imo, of this new change. Kang as showrunner and Gimple as chief of all TWDs. Seems like Gimple and Kang are like two showrunners of TWD, but Kang will be more into TWD but Gimple says the final word. First, it’s cool that a woc is a showrunner of a hit show. But I’m iffy on her writing based on some episodes. Maybe it be like that/s3 (weird season imo and totally diff from comics) or the usual..like s4-8 when Gimple was showrunner. Also, the job positions are different. Maybe Kang will be better as a showrunner than a writer. ukno? Like Gimple is a good writer, I so far liked his writing on the episodes he did. But as a showrunner it’s different, I think he’s ok on that. Just slow and idk casting, dialog stuff, but characters are alright but the payoff is slow and mostly in season B. -Idk what writer team does do and don’t do. But it’s interesting how different s2, s3, s4-8 was. So, who knows what Kang will be like as a showrunner. Maybe s9 will feel different. Better or worse idk. I’m kinda doubtful rn because of the episodes she written. sigh. ??? I’ll wait and see. But, also there’s Kang as showrunner and Gimple as chief, and Idk how that will go. Little changes or not? idk.
This new change doesn’t really matter to some people..because, Carl died. The biggest change already happened. IMO, I don’t think Kang got the “glass-cliff” exactly, because already in s8, Gimple and writers decided to kill off Carl-the heart of the show/old premise of the show. The fandom is shaken and a lot of fans(Carl fans, comic fans?, father-son fans) are gonna quit from that. So, imo, people that do care about Kang and the future of the show are ones who are still watching the show. So, these fans know about this crazy changes and know how TWD usually goes writing-ways. Like we all know it’s not the perfect show or the worst-cos we wanna keep watching it or knowing the story still. In some ways, Kang did get the “glass-cliff”, imo, because she’s showrunning the show when it’s on they’re 9th season..toward the end of the series. The time when the show is old, story is getting old, harder to get fresher ideas, maybe cast changes or something. But ya know Gimple is also the chief of content or whatever that is, i never heard of that term lol, he will get criticism as well. I just think TWD now has two showrunners. Lil positive thing from this change is that it might shake up the TWD style. Maybe the show will balance it better or feel faster. Maybe there will be better things. Idk.
I’m like curious of s9 but apprehensive of it. But then again, I always ask myself every season, ”do i still trust the writers?” “Do I still like the story and watch it on a Sunday night?” (If I don’t then I say TWD ended in s7f). So, it’s that and we never know with stories’s endgame ahead of time, anyways. I guess now we’re all more nervous because it’s a change, and it’s like really asking ourselves again if we will like the story and trust the writers. (btw, idk how movie fans do it, plus getting different directors. nervewrecking. i mean look at SW: TLJ. sheesh. huge fall from disappointment.)
