Those of you who've seen my other posts will know I'm a fan of exploring what it's like to be transformed. While most TF art focuses on the transformation itself, I'm far more interested in what happens after. How does being in an entirely new body affect someone? How does their daily life change when they have a different body plan?? What are the following days, weeks, months, and years like for them? How does being changed affect them as a person? Even if there are absolutely no mental effects, being nonhuman has got to change how you see the world. And if your body has radically different needs and instincts, that effect must surely be even more intense! This lovely comic - drawn by the ever-delightful @yourlocalrabbit - is an extreme example of that. If becoming a creature is a big change, what about becoming a part of something else? What's it like adjusting to being - in this case - a stomach? How does someone react to having entirely different needs and priorities, to being a part of a greater whole? It's a fun idea to explore - and just a fun concept in general!
This could be interpreted as a form of identity death, but I don't think it is - I actually really dislike identity death in general, since it undercuts the main appeal transformation stories have for me. Instead, I see it as a natural change in how someone views the world - they're still themselves, they still remember everything about their past life and can think freely, but their priorities are very different now. A stomach doesn't care about much other than its next meal, after all!
