GMMTV 2026 ✦ Ramblings

I was gonna do a show by show analysis post but I don't have the brain for it so I'm just gonna talk.

I wish there was actual magic in some of these offerings but instead we got ghosts, time travel and amnesia. I'm here for the ghosts always. Spooky, funny, I don't care. Of course it doesn't hurt that I adore the pairings that got these shows. So I'm super seated for The Spooky Love Tale and Cupid's Ghost. (Also isn't it fun that this is EarthMix's second show with cupid in the title? I find it amusing) I actually don't mind amnesia so much if it's part of the setup instead of something that happens midway through a story. If they don't go too wild with how they got it and they don't find a silly romantic way to recover the memories, I'm usually okay with it. So as you can imagine Kiss Me Remember didn't exactly made me jump with joy. Write You Again is a different story if they focus on the journey of re-self discovery and not in a magical fix it situation. Time travel is a tough one because I love it as a concept but I've been let down far too often. Replay looks fun with a side of angst so I actually liked the trailer but only time will tell. Good Boy and Wish Upon a Star remind me of Rearrange. I don't mind the fixing the past time travel in general but Absolute Zero left me with scars so I'm cautious. And Rearrange with its wholesomeness already started the healing lol.

Now let's talk money, Which is to say let's talk Pretty Woman in my bl. I'm not a fan of this type of story general so I'm cautious about these shows. If I had a choice I would rather lean into comedy with these concepts than drama. My Professional Boyfriend seems to have something else going on according to the trailer but honestly if you're gonna do this I would actually would like to see a character that is actually a sex worker and navigating that, instead of a miss understanding. But that's me. Billionaire Biker is giving me AouBoom as leads so I'll be tuning in of course and like I said, if they lean into the lighter side of this dynamic I think they can sell me on it.

Let's talk girls. So much variety. When it comes to gl I tend to favour the wholesome, the lighter and the funny. I'd say Bake Love Feeling and Enemies with Benefits and Wish Upon a Star all land somewhere in there. The toxic in my gl is not my cup of tea as much but I gotta say the girls were looking particularly gorgeous in Moonshadow. Oxytoxin looks visually interesting but I can't tell that much from the trailer. For a brief moment if reminded me of Gelboys. Love's Echoes was probably my favourite gl trailer. With that said, please please please, do it right. This could be great.

Now for the not so wholesome and not so light part of the program. Gunshot was an instant sell. To be fair it was always gonna be. I like that OffGun keep going outside the bl box and trying new things and with this ensemble this could be right up my alley. The Lovers & Gangsters trailer was a treat. Mond with a bat, Great all bloody and kissing Bright, Book not being a doof, violence and good visuals. It will depend a lot on the final script for me. You Maniac was another instant sell. I had WilliamEst with a new show on my bingo card and practically jumped out of my seat when the trailer started. I like that they went in a different direction and bitchy Est is everything I could've dreamed of. Now for 17th Spring. Saying I'm cautious about this one would be underselling it. The idea itself is great. Exploring HIV in the context of a young smiling boy could be really interesting and fresh. Not to mention something worth exploring. My main issue is if I trust New Siwaj and Gmmtv with it. I like the leads a lot, but this one only time will tell.

Now for some random picks. After My Magic Prophecy my trust in JimmySea was renewed. And I Will Always Save You is something different that could be really fun. Sea's character looks particularly delightful. The Invisible Dragon was not a instant sell. First, Khao and Namtan were gonna be the biggest factor for me to tune in. But as the trailer went on, I did find myself getting slightly more invested. Now can we stop making Khaotung cry uncontrollably? I know he's a great crier but he needs a break. Weirdo 101 was another instant sell. I adored these two in their MuTeLuv story and this has some of the same magic. I love ensemble shows and cohab so Roommate Chaos looks promising. Not to mention MarkOhm are there. Please make it good. For them. I like BounPrem a lot and I enjoy the office shenanigans part of Plan B to U.

Now for the hets and the bromance. Mr.Kill. I know this is suppose to be bromance. But bandage moment? Feeding? Helmet? Really walking that super thin, almost invisible line over here. I love everything about this one though. The story looks super interesting and I like that Dew is lending his artistic talents to this one. Arrest and Action will probably be a pass for me. I can sorta appreciate Sky and Nani's commitment to the bit but nope. Scarlet Heart will be a dash watch and perhaps a binge if it looks worth it. Although with 16 episodes it will be a really hard sell even if several of my beloveds are in it. Surf 'n' Love will be a gif watch. I'm glad they are finally putting Est in water and god knows I love Ohm a lot, not to mention the ocean. But everything else is not for me at all. Ending at the end. High & Low. This will come out in 2027 at best, but I will wait. Pretty boys on bikes? Pretty boys with bats? Pretty boys in leather jackets and denim? Yeah... I think I might watch it. It will be hard but I will force myself to get through it.

And that's it for me. If I didn't mention a show it's because I, either was not a fan of the trailer, or I have nothing to say besides, I like it. No way to know which are which lol.

Now for a special request to Gmmtv, and really my only wish. COMMIT. Commit to the complexity. Commit to the toxic. Commit to the flawed characters. Commit to the blood and violence. Commit to the deafness. Commit to the red in those flags. Commit to the funny and the scary. Commit to the mess. Just...commit.
