Twrcw Trwyth –Trwyth’s Boar: Originally an Irish prince Twrch was cursed and turned into a gigantic boar with poisonous bristles for hiswickedness, hidden in the fur between his ears are a pair of scissors, a comband a razor. Twrch Trwyth is accompanied byseven young piglets, men close to him who had also been turned for their evildeeds. Trwyth is mentioned in the Red Book ofHergest of the Mabinogion, this account comes from the story of Culwch and Olwen; the first written record of Arthurian legend; heis said to have been pursued by King Arthur himself with the help of his loyal dogCafall, Trwyth is finally driven to his death into the sea off Cornwall. Part of the 'Welsh Monsters & Mythical Beasts' art series, each of these legends (and a few unseen) will be featured in an illustrated book which will launch this october on Kickstarter Xx #welshlegends #welshmythology #wales
