Weretober 2024 - The Witches of Beast Fables

Since it's both Weretober AND Spooky season, I might as well share some bits of worldbuilding for my Beast Fables setting, Witches!

Witches in Urvara are practictioners of some of the oldest cultural and religious traditions in the setting, revering the Gift of transformation that all werefolk and certain animals share.

The goal was to give these witches a vibe that they are "normalized" in comparison to many fantasy settings, in which they are considered respected (by some nations) and vital, while not dabbling too much into classic "magic" elements. At most, dragon remains are the most magical items they do have.

The real conflict within the setting is actually that witches were, historically, antagonized by Alchemists, because they were seen as competition when it comes to studying the bones and remains of dragons.

And of course I followed a maiden mother and crone theme!

Beware, it's a Werefroggy!

I decided to fix him up; make him a little lighter on the black color and made him keep his necktie in his werefrog form. Now you think that Werefrog! Froggy would sound menacing in werefrog from, well you are sort of correct; he would sound menacingly when croaking and growling, but what he actually sounds like for his Werefrog Form is what would a dog toy sound like. In other words, in Werefrog Form, Froggy would sound like a Bullfrog, a regular frog and a Rain Frog.

i have the Haribo commercial from my childhood playing in my head,

"Haribo macht Kinder froh, und Erwachsne ebenso,"

except that "froh" (happy) becomes "frog" and it's accompanied by a mental image of children turning into amphibians
