Wylan: Our son has been begging for ‘spaghetti cake’ all day and I have no idea what that is
Jesper: Lasagne
Wylan:
Wylan: Jesper, why does our son think lasange is called spaghetti cake?
Jesper: …I didn’t think he’d latch on to it so fast

Teenage wesper kid: I need to get so wasted I'll forget all my life problems.
Jesper: we have vodka.
Wylan: JESPER LLEWELLYN FAHEY! You can't just offer vodka to our child! He wouldn't like the taste. Don't worry, honey, we have some gin.
Kaz: “As the son of a Merchant Council member, you really should be more careful with where you choose to play. Might not be many park trips left if you keep running off.”
Eight-year-old Conor Fahey: “As an old man, you really should be more careful with your haircuts. Might not have any left.”
Kaz:
Kaz: “You need to stay away from Nina.”
Conor: “Aunt Nina lets me go to whatever park I want.”
I’ve gone on about kanej but not the others. Since a few people also enjoy thinking about adult crows/post canon/next gen:
Kanej kid(s):
They first take in a street kid or a now-orphan Inej had to liberate. Too young. It’s temporary, until they find them a home…until it is not. Turns their lives upside down in a good way, makes them even closer. Eventually I imagine them being able to have their own. On purpose and without undue fear. They’d want more eventually.
Wesper kid(s):
I think Wylan specifically would not want children of his own because parental trauma. Jesper, eventually would want to be a father. Like. After a long time. That might test them. So they’d either be real content being uncles to Kanej’s kids or they’d maybe eventually adopt if Wylan can be convinced he won’t hurt the kid one way or another. And that they have enough time in the day.
I don’t think they’d ever have a part in raising Alys’s kid. I think the whole baby-half-sibling that could potentially delegitimise his inheritance, symbol of his father’s hate, thing would turn Wylan even further away from kids for awhile.
Hannina kid(s):
Hey I don’t know how transition and tailoring works in a world with this magic system and neither do you. So could they have biological kids? Who’s to say. It’s kind of dissatisfying either way you explain the limits of the magic. Lots of implications.
However, they’d need an heir and I think they’d both (or at least Nina would) make loving, joyful break-the-cycle parents. Imagine. Nina the orphan adopting Grisha orphans and therefore elevating a Fjerdan Grisha baby, a baby that should be hunted, to being cherished and also inheriting the country. It’s bold and it’s probably what she’d want.
i have writer’s block like crazy right now so the next chapter of tgoym likely will not be done anytime soon (im sorry😭) so have this short little thing i wrote forever ago instead featuring wesper as dads (cw: references to past abuse, ableism and internalized ableism):
“Get out.”
The ice cold tone to Wylan’s voice was not an entirely unfamiliar one. Jesper had heard it before, though not often. He was lucky enough to have never been on the receiving end of it, but he’d watched others suffer more than once.
“What? Mister Van Eck-”
“Councilman.”
“Excuse me?”
Wylan’s eyes were hard. Jesper was glad he’d had Namazzi take Hendrik out of the room to go play, because he wasn’t sure how either of them would react to seeing their da like this.
“Councilman Van Eck.”
Their former tutor looked baffled. Jesper would have felt bad for her in any other circumstance.
“Councilman Van Eck, I don’t think you understand-”
“You are no longer welcome here. I suggest you leave before I get the Stadwatch involved.”
“Councilman, if you would just listen to me! I really do think the best path for treatment-”
“Get out of my home. I do not like repeating myself.”
“The contract-”
“The contract stopped mattering the second you decided my son was broken. You will receive one final payment, and I suggest you use it for a career change. Now, you may walk out of here on your own two feet or with my guard dragging you by your hair. This is your last chance to decide which you’d prefer.”
Sheepishly, the woman turned to leave. Finally, she seemed to have gotten the message. Jesper watched as Seda, their housekeeper, escorted her out of the room and shut the door gently behind them. The second they were alone, Wylan exhaled loudly.
“Ghezen’s fucking works, that woman.” He dragged a hand through his hair, exhaustion and frustration clear in the gesture. “If she had taken any longer I would've thrown her out the window myself.”
Jesper laughed quietly. “I would’ve paid to see that.”
It was quiet. Jesper could see the swirl of emotions flitting across his husband’s face and the whirlwind of thoughts running through his head. “Saints, I hope Hendrik is okay. He actually liked her, I can’t believe-”
“Wylan.”
“Hm?”
“How are you doing?” The confusion on his face was evident. Jesper wasn’t at all surprised that Wylan hadn’t even considered how this shitty situation might have affected him. “It can’t have been easy on you, Wy.”
Wylan blinked. “Well, no, but Hendrik is more important. It’s his tutor, how it made me feel doesn’t matter right now,” he said. Jesper rubbed his shoulder.
“Yes it does, love. You can’t help him if you aren’t okay. He and Namazzi are playing now, he’ll be fine for a few minutes while we work through what you think of all this,” he insisted. Wylan sighed. Jesper looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to say something. After several moments, Wylan sat down heavily and sighed.
“I’m glad I can protect him,” he started. “I’m so glad that I can be there for him and protect him from the skivs like her that think there’s something wrong with him.”
“But?”
“It’s like… I see how easy it is, now. It’s so simple to just tell them to leave and start over. It’s like I was holding onto this belief that maybe I just didn’t understand because I wasn’t a father, but I am, now. And I see that it couldn’t have come from a place of love, because I love Hendrik so much and because of that I could never let him go through those awful treatments.” Jesper didn’t say anything. He could tell there was more, and Wylan was just trying to find the words for it. “People have told me that it wasn’t love, and I knew logically that it wasn’t love, but I was still… hoping, I guess. That I was wrong and he did love me. And it’s so stupid, because he’s so awful and I hate him more than anything, but there’s this part of me that still wishes he cared, even though I should be over it by now.” He was slumped against the back seat, staring at the far wall. Jesper touched his hand, and Wylan laced their fingers together immediately. When Jesper started to rub his thumb gently along his skin, he looked down at their hands and squeezed.
“It’s not stupid,” said Jesper. “Your feelings are not stupid, Wy. You have every right to feel the way you do.”
“I know.” Wylan sighed. “I know, I know, you’ve said it a million times, I know.”
“And I will say it a million more,” Jesper promised. “You’re a great da, Wylan. Hendrik and Namazzi are so lucky to have you there to protect them. I am so lucky to have you here to help me do what’s best for them.” Wylan smiled up at him, and his face seemed a little clearer. He reached up and cupped his cheek to pull him down for a gentle kiss, and Jesper smiled into it.
“Thanks, Jes,” he whispered.
“Anytime, sunshine.”

Wip Wednesday
I've been tagged by the lovely @hotpinkmurex last week. Better late than never, so here's a bit from the wesper-kid-fic I'm working on.
-------------------
“Wow!” Jesper exclaimed, ruffling the little boy's hair. “You've already finished eating everything on your plate!”
Perched on his highchair by Jesper's side, the toddler nodded with pride as he chewed on his last cube of honeydew melon.
“Do you want more fruits?” Wylan offered.
“Yes.”
“Which kind?”
“The -awbeyies.”
Marya was the one sitting closest to the bowl of freshly cut strawberries. She reached for it and used her spoon to drop four pieces on her grandson's plate. “There you go, little gem.”
“What do we say to Nanna?” Wylan reminded him.
“Thank you, Nanna.”
Before Wylan could congratulate his child on a politeness lesson well learned, the sound of the doorbell echoed through the entrance hall, all the way to the sunroom.
Jesper sprung up on his feet, and he stopped the butler before the stern-faced man could even take a step toward the mansion’s main door. “It’s fine, Luther. I’ll get it.” Jesper was always restless during meals and would take the first opportunity to go stretch his legs. Wylan had stopped trying to combat that habit several years ago. He just assumed table manners didn't apply to his husband.
“Dada!?” the toddler exclaimed, a tinge of distress in his voice, contorting in his chair with a whine, as he tried to see where his father had gone.
“Dada's gone to answer the door, treasure. He'll be back soon,” Wylan reassured his son and then pointed at the pieces of fruit in front of him. “Why don't you eat your strawberries in the meantime, huh?”
The little boy looked down at the food, wary now, as if his father’s sudden absence had turned the berries into something vaguely ominous.
