Systematic disadvantages and a faulty prison system have only worsened issues like these. Anger towards such a violent crime are understandable but the recent riots and violence against hospital workers is targeting innocent people. Police have responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, focusing on dispersion and matching violence instead of attempting to deescalate a crowd of grieving community members.

The internet can be so disheartening as a woman because I’ll see the most horrific, vitriol filled comments and videos by men and it is so genuinely exhausted because I keep winding myself up and getting into long arguments trying to explain basic empathy to these people that just could not care less if they’re not immediately getting off to it

It’s so hard not to say something because I just can’t comprehend someone not understanding how awful their views are and ignoring plain set and written arguments once they’re shown them. They run out of faulty arguments and just jump to mocking me, laughing emojis or threats

I am so genuinely exhausted that millions of men like that exist and just have not a single care for women, but actual, downright disgust towards us, and there’s not a single damn thing I can do to make any of them hate us any less. I can talk until my tongue bleeds but they’ll only laugh because they managed to get another women bleeding

To the men that believe society could function and not immediately dissolve if women all suddenly disappeared:

Who’s currently looking after your children? Who knows how to use the dishwasher and do basic chores and domestic tasks? Who in your household cooks, cleans, parents and usually still brings in 50% income?

The reason women would suffer less if men disappeared than the opposite is because women do so much more work than what is officially on the workforce and recognised

Tons of conservative, republican ideologies get pushed into our government based off of Americans, it happened with the attempted abortion bans and the rising trend of censorship in public libraries

Why are bushfires and heatwaves happening to this severity?

Bushfires are raging rampant at higher frequencies as a direct result of global warming. A lot of regions have cooled from the multi-day heatwaves occuring all over Australia but there are still 27 active bushfires, 1 known fatality so far, 15,500 livestock animals have died and 400,000 hectares have burned with the number expected to rise before the end of Bushfire season.

This is as a result of larger corporations not being held accountable for emmisions and environmental pollution.

VICTORIAN LAWS AGAINST PROTESTING

This is appalling behaviour by the Australian government and blatant fear mongering. Protests are a vital part of social justice and the slow banning of them will only ensure that we are unable to fight against injustice in our country.

Protestors should not have to face violence, beatings, jail time and tear gas for peaceful protests.

We cannot let them scare us into compliance and I ask everyone to see how they can help. I will not stop protesting because this is not something I can give up over but I shouldn’t have to be worried for my health and future being permanently harmed for fighting for the rights of others.
