I got the suggestion/inspo from my friend @thousandtinywaves to draw a whalemaid but not a lil skinny ass whalemaid because that doesn't make sense for aquatic mammals like whales and I said HELL YEAH!!! and chose the humpback whale because they're one of my fav animals <333

Mama Haven Whale for Mermay! She’s covering her mouth because I read about how sperm whales will lower their voices when humans are in the water, since the clicks they use to communicate with each other are so loud they can actually KILL a human because it vibrates us to death. And they don’t want to hurt us! It just said “Haven” to me, though physically I based her whale half on a humpback. Done in Krita, bubbly background free use from Pexels.
