Jessica found the diary in one of the many rooms in this now big and empty house. While she had been prepared for the death of her parents for most of her life, it didn’t mean it wasn’t weird. Thinking about everything that had happened still made her a little depressed though. Picking it up, she slowly flipped through the pages. Surprised by the thoughts and other private stuff that her mother probably would have continued to keep hidden from her had she still been around to do so. Pushing her hand through her hair and then across her cheek to wipe away a tear she sighed. Her eyes narrowed on one of the pictures.
She knew that diner. Or at least she thought she did. Closing the diary, she put it under her arm and moved to lock the door on this room. She wouldn’t be coming back in here anytime soon. “Going out, Duvald. I’ll be home for dinner.”
“Madam should really take an escort-”
“I promise you I will be fine Duvald. I wasn’t the one it was written about. I will be fine.”
“Very good, Lady Jessica.” She sighed. Now that her parents died she was technically the lady of this place. Although she didn’t feel it. Didn’t want that responsibility. Not even thinking about it because that would cause all sorts of panic.
Twenty minutes later she’d found it. The diner that had its photo pasted in her mother’s book. Wondering what was so special about it, she moved inside and over to one of the empty booths. Not entirely sure why she was here.
So be it. If this is how you intend things to be. Then I accept.
