I might be the only one who holds this opinion but
Kirby in the anime doesn't actually act anything like the mindless baby people try to say the anime portrayed him as to me.
Sure he has his "poyo" thing going on and learns to say regular words slowly but, that's basically equivalent to the waddle dees' "wanya" language (which actually also originated with the anime)
And yes he doesn't understand a lot of basic things at first, but 1. He learns those things actually very fast, and 2. He doesn't understand them because he has simply never lived in society and experienced regular life before. And considering that, if you ask me he's actually not doing too badly
You can see him silently processing things, learning to do/understand the things he doesn't, etc. in possibly more of a neurodivergent sort of way to me than anything (might just be me because I am neurodivergent and process things very differently + am very selective in my ability to speak, in that I know how to but sometimes physically cannot, but still)
He is definitely meant to be a child, but he is far from mindless or outright babylike.
He's an alien creature who spent his life drifting in space, now learning to understand life in a completely different world that he's not used to yet and knows nothing about
He's not really portrayed much different than he is in the games. He goes around and lives his life, views things his own way, and when there's danger he knows exactly how to spring into action to protect everything he loves. Sure, he is thought of as a baby by the other kids, but that's because they don't understand him yet, and assume his learning to integrate into Popstar's society from square one due to such a thing being brand new to him as result of never even setting foot on a planet before then is due to underdeveloped intelligence. On the other hand he is shown with time to understand a lot more than they think.
He has an obvious sibling bond with Fumu (seen in episodes 15 and 51 in particular), a friendly rivalry with Tokkori, etc. and is even capable of indignancy, anger, mischief and mourning (i.e., jokingly pointing to Tokkori while saying "barbecue" when the group was stranded in the woods and wished for something to cook on the bonfire, evilly laughing in the kimidameshi/halloween episode to try and scare first Fumu and Bun and then Dedede and Escargon just for fun, getting annoyed by some of Dedede's mockeries or when the baby Galbo bit him, the obvious points of episodes 15, 20, and whatever the one with the Don Quixote wannabe was, etc.)
Look at the entirety of episode 51 as well. I could go on an entire seperate ramble about that one but the bottom line is, he was well capable of feeling rejected and abandoned until it drove him to the point of tears and figuring it was better for everyone if he left (thanks of course in large part to Tokkori driving the final nail in that coffin).
We have also seen him doing things like fishing on his own and foraging fruit to care for Dynablade's chick after he accidentally hatched it and it imprinted on him, which a baby would not know how to do. (Dynachick on the other hand, an actual baby, could not do these things for itself)
Therefore:
He is not a mindless baby, at any point, in any portrayal, whatsoever. Certainly not anymore so than he is in the games (which is not at all!)
-Sincerely, neurodivergent loser who has been way too devoted to the awful kirby anime for an entire decade
Two pretty bsfs 🪷
no because why did mclaren tell norris about oscar’s penalty BEFORE telling oscar ??????
once again i am here connecting dots where there aren’t
anyways the “own the day” quote on jamil’s bonbonniere bg reminded me of a similar quote “seize the day” which is like yeah a very generic quote in of itself
but i felt like i heard that quote used SOMEWHERE that could be relevant so i looked it up and accidentally just stumbled upon a quote with robin williams from dead poets society 1989
and for those who don’t know robin williams was the original voice actor for the genie in the animated aladdin 1992
idk where i’m going with this i just think it’s pretty neat
if you listen to music by Aurora or Sub Urban or Kiki Rockwell or Florence and the Machine, congratulations, you have an S-Tier music taste
teenagers and children are popular choices for when transformers want a little human friend, like how some people get dogs exclusively when they're puppies so trust is easier to build between the owner and the pet (outside of the extremely dependent stage) (that is also why they don't often just take babies, too much work)
