Top 10 Things to do in Edinburgh
I’ve always wanted to visit Scotland but I’ve always prioritised travelling around Europe. I just can’t believe it took me so long to visit the Scottish capital.
From Edinburgh, St. Andrews is just an hour away by train, enjoy walking on cobbled stones or sandy beaches. The castle, now a magnificent ruin by the beach, was built in the 1200s.
What’s this cafe’s claim to fame? It’s where Prince William and Kate met! I don’t think you’ll find anymore Princes here though haha
Built in 1158, it was the seat of Catholic Church in medieval Scotland. I wonder how the interiors would look like if it’s still in one piece today?
One of my favourite words is lost, it’s so easy to do it. Yeah it’s something scary but once you learned to embrace it, you’ll find out it’s an adventure of it’s own, no maps to guide you, just go where your feet and your guts take you, you’ll see it’s literally a world of possibilities :)
For die hard Harry Potter fans, eating in this cafe is a must! It’s the place where J.K. Rowling wrote the magical series, you’d even read articles about her struggles such as buying only a cup of coffee and making it last as long as possible as she can’t afford a second one. The toilets are filled with wicked and creative vandals from the hardheaded muggles.
He is the Scottish Hachiko and we share the same name so he’s a cool dog :D
It’s otherwise called rainbow street as it is an array of colourful shops.
So many castles, so little time. If you'd imagine the London skyline, you’d think of Big Ben or London Eye, for Edinburgh, it is the dominated by this beautiful castle on top of a rock. See the oldest building in Scotland, the tiny but amazing St. Margaret’s chapel. The castle is also the home of the famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a showcase of spectacular performances and fireworks.
For that post card effect, I always get stunned if I see it in person.
10. Scottish Portrait Gallery
The picture below is just the lobby of the fantastic museum which holds the national collection of portraits. For patrons of art, this is a must!
There’s still much to see and do! If only we have the time, we’d like to witness the Fringe festival and also go to Stirling Castle.
