Well, we can watch what's going on with our own eyes re: the Gremlin (the thinspo she's been giving off lately is concerning), and the posters are right about her non-Burton floppapotamuses that we counted right here 🦛🦛🦛🦛🦛... they've all gotten bad reviews, and she's bordering becoming an A list actress with a lot of B movies on her resumé.

That HAS to sting, especially with Hurry Up Tomorrow. She seemed to have a lot of passion for it, but she's blind to it within its context of being a self-suck vanity project.

She probably still smokes (saw some dude talk about how cool it was to meet ber when she put a cigarette out on her boot or something like that), does whatever she can to stay awake.

On the flip side, we can also watch Aliyah in her life with her nursing school roommates on her TikTok Lives. Sometimes when I get to be in there I see questions about Jenna suddenly disappear from the chat, so her mods obviously don't want to burden her with all of that "IS YOUR SISTER OKAY?" mess. I haven't dared ask her sht because yanno, that would be shitty (do not mix fandom with her family), but I like to watch others try. There are a lot of Jenna gooners in her Lives 💀 I don't think they realize that Aliyah is just a regular young Z tryna make it on her own, in spite of her very famous sister.

(No, Jenna doesn't pay for everything — why should she, it's her money and she has 5 freaking sibs and a bunch of nephews/nieces/cousins/etc. If you watch Aliyah's subscription only Lives, she gets a lot of love from her "Live Family", with a bunch of her mods gifting her real gifts(!). One of them gave her a pair of Doc Martens for her birthday, and another got her the toaster/pots and pans? she and her roommates use. And another likes to send her all the makeup and beauty products she uses/needs to upkeep that babealicious face of hers. I think people would say (and are saying) that she wouldn't be famous without her sister, and that's kinda true, except Natalie's the one who pushed for all of this and allowed the whole family to be dragged into it/raised her kids online — like how she's doing with her grandkid Mya, she let it happen w Aliyah too, since she was also a child when the Mogwai was a child and going online/doing Lives when she was 15. Mom allowed it to happen, and now Aliyah grew into it and is stuck being "Jenna's sister". Which is a shame because she seems like a real sweetheart.)

Anyway, that gossip r/ is just...ugh. "Let's see how much more tea my roommate's cousin can squeeze out of one of Jenna's sisters about Jenna" is just ew. But par for the course of being related to the newest Burton Girl, I guess (and probably the good reason Aliyah has protective mods). Those poor girls (whether it be Mia or Aliyah...'went to nursing school' might mean Mia since she's done with nursing school and Aliyah is still in school for it).

As for a final word on the Gremlin/Mogwai, there's also the concerning question of where Klara and the Sun is. It's been in post since the spring of last year. The Gallerist is now called Art Monster (!? I liked the subtle title but whatever), and with no fall festival announcements (as per NataliePortman.com) it looks like it won't be out until 2026.

She's "busy" but has time for a million fashion spreads and brand deals/being the Z face of Dior, a company targeting wealthier people while people are literally starving/shooting themselves/otherwise committing suicide because they've lost their healthcare. I get it, she wants to do it (saw all those pics of her when she was young and showing off her branded bags and crap like that — she's a label whore, just like a ton of other young women who think that a label = is something "quality" that elevates you, when all it is is label...that's the complete opposite of Gen X, we hated labels and brand whores). But it's what she wants to do to bring in the bag for more.

ETA: I lied, I actually have more to say, because I got into an argument with someone on Twitter about her level of education.

Explanation and education wank under the cut because this shit is getting long.

I used to be irritated about how down she was about it "being too late" to go to school/college (to Fanning, in that interview she cried in), but after more poking around, I understand why she even said that.

She's an eighth grade dropout (Mama Nat pulled her out of school one day and told her she wasn't coming back — Jenna's words) who received on-set education that included the CHSPE (California High School Proficiency Program, which was recently changed to the CPP/California Proficiency Program), which is what child actors in California get; she was seen studying/goofing off with Isaak Presley (her Disney co-star) for it. The CHSPE is legally equivalent to a high school diploma here in CA, but it will not get you into college; you need supplemental education outside of the on-set bare minimum in order to be prepared for college work. The CHSPE isn't even the equivalent to a GED.

I'm not saying she's dumb; she's not dumb, and is usually well-spoken and has a thirst for knowledge. But her education was severely handicapped, especially since instead of doing other basic education supplementary on the side, Mama Nat (and Edward) allowed her to do whatever the fuck she wanted (with those stupid Lives/fan crap) and didn't guide her towards a stronger educational foundation so that she could be like her Art Monster co-star Natalie Portman or Harry Potter star Emma Watson; two gorgeous, BUSY child actors who ended up going to Ivy League schools.

Portman went to normal high school but still managed to star in five films by 9th grade, including working with both Woody Allen (yechhhhh...but his name is still a big deal in the film industry) AND Tim Burton in his prime on Mars Attacks. She was a freshman in high school when Beautiful Girls, Everyone Says I Love You, and Mars Attacks came out. Her sophomore/junior years were spent mostly on Broadway but she filmed the Phantom Menace, which came out in her senior year (and she skipped the afterparty of the premiere to study for her senior finals).

Watson, on the other hand, received different on-set education (tutoring) and private education at real schools (Lynams/Dragon/Headington) so that she could excel in her GCSE/A-Levels and end up going to Brown (she also studied for up to five hours a day off set). And now that she's settled into her private life, she's gone for her master's and now PhD in Creative Writing from Oxford.

These two actresses had strong parental support for their education. Jenna Ortega, for whatever reasons, did not, and this makes me sad for her. Hands-on 'education' as she's doing can only get you so far, and with someone as hard working as she is, with the proper guidance, she could've done what Portman and Watson did. I feel like with the hustle of caring for six other children (she grew up in a household with her first nephew/Mariah's first son), Mama Nat and Edward were too busy to care whether she had anything to fall back on and left it to "God" and the internet. A loss like that, once you realize it, can be a bitter dent in one's psyche.
