buy a Filipino’s Human Rights only 0.0000001921 USD
so how did it come to this you might ask?
last September 11, the Philippine Senate Committee approved a 678 Million Philippine Pesos (approximately 13.56 Million Dollars) budget for the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) from the total of 3.767 Trillion Php Budget (approximately 75.34 Billion US Dollars). It was lower than last year’s 749 Million (14.98M USD). (x/x)
Upon reaching the Philippine Congress, they somehow managed to vote it practically out of the budget, leaving it with a 1000 Php budget (20 USD) for the entire year of 2018. The vote was a solid 119-32. On top of that, giving the Commission on Energy Regulation and Commission on Indigenous People, the same. (x/x/x/x)
Here is actual video footage:

but then you might ask, Mei, why is this important? What is CHR? Well, it’s called Commission on Human Rights. It’s a sector whose job is to protect the rights of the Filipino people as humans and one of it’s key functions are "investigate, on its own or on complaint by any party, all forms of human rights violations involving civil and political rights" and "monitor the Philippine government's compliance with international treaty obligations on human rights." (Article XIII, Section 18 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution)
and it might follow, but like why is it important now in the Philippines specifically? You might not know the Philippine Government but I think you’ve at least heard of the Philippine Drug War and the Extra Judicial Killings and the Human Rights violated. (x/x/x/x)
But Mei, if they are ridding the Philippines of drugs, why is it such a bad thing? it sounds nice when you phrase it like that but their methods make use of the police and as the forerunners of this campaign, they get heightened power, yes over the people who are in the drug trade but also to innocent civilians themselves. You see where I’m getting? Yes, I’m talking about a rise in Police Brutality that comes with this supposed War against Drugs. But does this get called on by our government? Haha, I wish. A police points a gun at you and shoots you and says you resisted, you’re a suspect in the drug trade. But you can’t speak because you’re dead. Everyone else is afraid to speak cuz they might be next. (x/x/x/x)
Babies, Children, Minors and College Kids were killed in police operations. A 4 year Old girl got shot and died cuz she was with her father who was linked in the drug trade. These people are called “collateral damage”, “allegedly resisted”, “we did not see them while in pursuit of the suspect”, swept over the rug of an overglorified anti-drug campaign. But we don’t hear them from the government. They are not acknowledged as opposed to the ever hearty morale of our policemen, both those who do work for the law and those high on their new found power. (x/x/x/x)
but what better way to end this than with irony right? with all these killings without due process, the Philippine President’s son is now being accused of being in the drug trade himself. And you know what he gets to enjoy? You got that right. Due Process of the Law. (x/x/x)
so yeah, if you ever think 20USD can’t buy shit, remember
it’s more fun in the philippines, where human rights ain’t worth jacksquat
