“We have to get out of here,” Keigo said.
“Oh really?” Touya adjusted his prosthetic arm slightly. “What exactly do you mean by ‘we?”
“Do you want to end up quirkless and dead?” Hawks asked, running his hands down the doorframe.
“You’re already halfway there.”
“Whatever. If you want to, you can escape with me.”
“Were you lying about not wanting your quirk back?”
Hawks paused his examination of the door. It was useless, anyway. He crossed the room and sat on the bed. “Not… no.” He sighed. “When I was a kid, my quirk was... I was a burden. Then I belonged to the HPSC. What made me important to them? My quirk. I was their hero, following their orders. My quirk was never mine. But… there were moments. When I was flying. Where… if I wanted to, I could keep flying forever. Fly away, so close to the sun that my wings would stop, and I’d fall, and never answer to the HPSC, or anyone else, ever again.” Keigo turned to Touya, who was, remarkably, silent.
Keigo barked out a laugh. “I guess, in a way, you were the sun.”
