The movie is actually called "The Fearless Vampire Killers," and is a comedy. The musical does take some characters and concepts from the movie, but it is only lightly based on it. 

I highly recommend giving the Russian version with Ivan Ozhogin as Krolock a watch!

My apologies for dispersing incorrect information haha. ^^” I will certainly take your suggestion into consideration; I’ve actually been meaning to hopefully find some time to sit down and watch the musical in full! I definitely feel like I am missing out on something big by not having seen it yet, having mainly seen little clips/gifs here and there and glimpsed at the general synopsis. It looks like a fantastic and fun performance! :)
