Its rare to find a drop where the younger sibling out performs the older brother. The #lagavulin 8 is one such dram. On the nose there is slight medicinal notes which is conformably dominated by the peat and smoke. Right from the outset honey hits the palate clashing with peat and peppery hint comes towards the end. The finish is magnificent with charred smoke which lingers a long while with a touch of coastal saltiness and oak charming in for good measure. Overall, I'd pick this over the 16 (which mind you is a very good dram in itself). Pick this up while you can. Its a limited edition.
