throughout all the years you lived in florida for, it hadn’t snowed. not even at christmas it’s not like you hadn’t seen snow before, multiple times as a kid but there was a part of you that longed for it.
when you moved to metropolis, you had just missed the snowy season. soon spring turned to summer and then finally, it was winter.
your co-worker, clark knew how much you were dreaming of it to snow so when the daily planet arranged a secret santa, he knew he had to get your name.
you knew he was superman so he didn’t have to hide his gift from you. you were slightly suspicious when he cancelled plans last minute but you understood and decided to have a quiet night in.
after many movies and too much popcorn, you decided to call it a night and head to bed. the next morning, something was different. you exhaustingly made yourself a coffee before stepping onto your apartment balcony.
the air was cold, something about it felt like home. your eyes barely adjusted when they saw a familiar white covering the city. it had snowed. a smile grew on your face as you looked down to see families building snowmen.
it hadn’t snowed too much, so you caught the bus to work. the daily planet were just as happy to see the snow. later that afternoon, it was time for the secret santa gift exchange.
lois got cat, cat got perry, perry got steve, you got a jimmy and clark got you. everyone looked to clark who was empty handed, he anxiously gave you a look. had he forgotten?
you tried to hide the hurt in your reaction but everyone knew it had upset you. once your shift finished, you put on your coat, scarf and gloves and made your way to the bus stop.
clark rushed after you, “hey, wait!” he called out, you stopped in your tracks and looked at him.
“you don’t have to apologize, the holidays are stressful and i understand.” you attempted to reassure him but he shook his head.
“no, i didn’t forget you. i just couldn’t tell you in front of everyone.” clark explained, “i already gave you my present.”
you looked around in confusion, “what do you mean?” you asked, not understanding.
“you told me that when you were a kid, you loved the snow. you said you missed it and that you were homesick. so…i brought the snow to you.” clark’s words made your heart explode.
“w-what? you did this for me?” you let out a laugh, looking around at the snow once more.
clark nodded, “yeah, i knew it was important to you.” before he could say anything else, you pulled him in for a hug. “this is the best thing anyone has ever done for me.”
