White-fronted bee-eater from Africa.
Where is my bee?
Continuing the experiment of Friday, here’s the start of what will hopefully be a steady series. These little paintings, just 10.5 x 15 cm, combine watercolour and black fineliner and are lots of fun to make. I intend to make a new set every week, and all are for sale! Contact me or check out my website if you’d like to own one of these cuties.
For now I went on a major bee-eater spree - they’re just too adorable, and have gorgeous colours. Though I want to paint all sorts of animals, not just birds. What species would you like to see? Let me know!

These bee-eaters are found in parts of Africa, primarily below the equator. They eat mostly bees, as well as beetles, flies, dragonflies, damselflies, moths, butterflies, and grasshoppers, usually catching them in flight. They are cooperative breeders and nest in colonies in riverbank burrows. Non-breeding birds assist their relatives with the care of their chicks.
