This classification “has led to the persecution, enslavement, and slaughter of millions of people … [and] is still frequently used in connection with humans groups.” 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑝𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑚, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑖𝑡𝑠 𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑒. No grouping of humans into separate races (or subspecies) is based on actual genetic or other biological differences. “Among the 3.2 billion base pairs in the human genome, there is no fixed difference that separates, for example, Africans from non-Africans. To be explicit, not only is there no single gene that underpins ‘racial’ differences, but there is not even a single base pair.” While looking at specific genes known to code for skin color can help us discern whether the individual has dark or light skin, the genetic variants linked with light skin, for example, are shared by Europeans and Africans alike. And while a good guess could be made about an individual’s ancestry by looking at their genome and identifying some genetic differences, these differences are few and superficial. The largest number of genetic differences exists 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 so-called “racial” groups, and not between said groups. Simply comparing the genomes of two people will not help you classify them into what the world currently recognizes as their “race”. Paraphrased from the 2019 'Jena Declaration'. i only have this platform to primarily get information on paganism and witchcraft. but something needs to be said. as a member of the lgbtqia+ community, it's my job to provide proper and correct information to people who are confused or just want to learn more. my cousin is over right now and he's asking me questions on gender and sexuality and everything else but every time i give him the information he asked for, he turns it around and tries to twist the words into something awful and against catholicism. he mentioned as well that white privilege does not exist. so i brought up the case of brock turner and how he was let off with a slap on the wrist. then i brought up the case of cyntonia brown and how the justice system failed her because she was colored. he sided with the rapist. and i got so angry i had to leave the room before i knocked his teeth out. as a sexual abuse victim, knowing that my own flesh and blood would side with the aggressor/abuser made me want to throw up. he knows what i went though and when i brought it up, he said 'youre family. its different.' its not different at all. anyone who sides with such an evil person.... has no sense of humanity. and regretfully, i wish him nothing but the worst because a civil conversation does nothing to change his mind. i just had to say something.
