"Alice in Zombieland" by Gena Showalter
So I realized that in a past post, I mentioned this book as one of my all time favorites and that it is a total must-read. A few hours later, I realized I didn't say anything about it, so here you go:
Alice in Zombieland is about a girl named Alice Bell, or Ali for short. At the beginning of the book, she and her family are in a car crash- killing them all except for her. This causes Ali to move in with her grandparents; far away from everything she's ever known.
At her new school, Ali quickly sees that the bad boy, Cole Holland, along with his crew, are usually always covered in bruises and other nasty marks. Even though Ali sees that Cole is somewhat of an ass, she can't help but fall for his good looks.
One morning, they make eye contact and weird things begin to happen (I'm not saying what because I don't roll with spoilers). Ali and Cole become closer and closer until she learns the biggest secret of all: Zombies are real.
Alice in Zombieland is about Ali's journey coping with the death of her parents, as well as training to become a butt-kicking zombie slayer to avenge her family's aforementioned deaths. This book is action packed and crammed with many well-developed characters that will make you laugh every time!
Do I recommend this book? YES! What's even better is that this is a trilogy, and each book has consistency- no one book is worse or better than the others!
Why should you read this book? First of all, Cole Holland is waaaaaay up high on the book boyfriend list. Yeah, he's that great. Second, Ali (narrator) has a fantastic sense of humor, so even when I'm in tears, she still manages to make me smile:) Also, if you read and liked Jennifer L. Armentrout's Lux series, you will definitely enjoy this! The two series are very similar, the one exception being this series revolves around zombies rather than aliens.
*BONUS JONAS: All the books are out, so no need to stress over the cliff hangers!*
Feel free to ask me any questions!:)
