Hey Greenie Pt. Three
Hey Everyone, Sorry this is so late. I feel like such a horrible person for promising this way earlier and not finishing it until now. My life has been really crazy the last year. I also just started college, which has taken over my life. I’m going to try to post more on the weekends, if not then, during my breaks. You are all amazing! Thank you so much for all of your support! Hope you enjoy! Also I am planning a part four. Which I will try to have done by the end of the week.
If there are any mistakes or grammar issues, please let me know. I didn’t get a chance to proofread. Sorry in advance!
"Gally?”
Newt, who was standing next to me, looked down at me with a sad gaze. He wrapped his arm around me and led me back to the truck helping me climb into the back.
The rest soon climbed back in as Jorge started driving again. My lips twisted into a frown as my mind raced around in circles thinking of multiple possibilities. Could he still be alive? No, I watched him die in my arms as they took me away. Why do I feel like I'm going to see him again? Am I gonna die today?
Nervous butterflies assaulted my stomach as we got closer to the crank town. Jorge soon parked just outside of the town, as we all climbed out walking into the town. I stayed lost in thought walking beside Thomas, before Jorge pushed past me bringing me out of my thoughts.
Newt placed his hand on my shoulder as we continued following Thomas. As we continued trying to find a way in, a man’s voice was heard above the noise. Stopping we all turned around to see the man sitting on top of a vehicle speaking trough a radio speaker. “We are the voice of the voiceless! They hide behind their walls, thinking they can keep the cure for themselves, while they watch the rest of us wither and rot! But there are more of us than there are of them. And I say, we rise up and take back what is ours! Let's bring back a victory!” The crowd around us cheered, beginning to follow the vehicles.
As the leading car passed us, an electrical feeling surged through my body. Looking to the back of the car, I noticed one of the guys turn his head looking at our group, before I felt his gaze stop on me. The electricity feeling began to increase, as time seemed to freeze around me. I quickly looked at everyone’s faces, noting that they noticed the guy staring as well.
Thomas began to follow the crowd, before Jorge spoke up “Thomas! This is not what you're looking for. All these people trying to find their way in, you think you're gonna find something they can't?”
Thomas continued shoving his way through the crowd before replying, “Came this far. I'm not turning back now.”
“This doesn’t feel right.”
Standing in the crowd huddled together, I noticed the same guys in face masks watching us. I quickly pointed this out to the group, as we stayed close to each other. Turning towards the great wall, the crowds’ angry chants began to cease as a metallic creaking sound echoed around the area. Looking up huge guns began to rise coming to life and firing into the crowd.
The group started running, dodging incoming bullets and other people. The group turned down a path between tall concrete walls. Thomas, Brenda and I barely made it pasted the wall before one of the bullets landed behind us, knocking us down and stirring up a thick cloud of dust. Thomas grabbed Brenda’s arm and helped me up saying, “come on.”
We began running through the path and came to a clearing where the men in masks began to grab everyone and shoving them into vans. I turned to Brenda and watched as a man grabbed her arm. I tried to run after her, but someone grabbed me by my waist and started pulling me towards one of the vans. I began thrashing around, struggling to get free. I threw my elbow back and made contact as the man behind me dropped to his knees. I began running again, knowing that if I didn’t get away now, I wouldn’t be able to save my friends later. Before I could make it any further, another man grabbed my wrist and pulled back throwing me into one of the vans. He climbed in behind me as I snuggled close to Thomas. The vans took off as three men in gas mask carrying huge guns watched us closely.
Biting my tongue, I grabbed Thomas’ hand as my other hand went to my necklace again. The electrical feeling buzzed to life, getting stronger with every second the vans continued. The vans came to a stop and a knock sounded from the door behind us. A muffled voice ordered, “Get out.”
We all jumped out, staying calm. I eyed the men around us, all carrying guns. The other van soon pulled up, muffled shouting and grunting was heard from inside. The doors flew open as one of the men in masks fell out. Jorge jumped out quickly behind him yelling, “where is she?”
Thomas, Brenda, Newt and Fry all rushed forward to pull Jorge off the man. The group surrounding us started shouting, “get back” before pushing the boys away from Jorge and Brenda, who quickly began calming him down.
A familiar voice sounded above the crowd, “Everybody relax. We are all on the same side here.”
My heart jumped into my throat as my stomach preformed summersaults. One word popped into my head, Gally? Fighting back the idea, my eyes locked on Thomas as he questioned, “What do you mean on the same side? Who the hell are you?”
Everything stood still and silent as the group waited in confusion and suspense. The speaker slightly turned his head to the side before reaching up and removing his gas mask. It was as if time stood still, tears ran freely as my heart clenched. “Gally?”
He locked eyes with me and smiled lightly before a small frown took over. Looking back at Thomas he said, “Hey Greenie.”
