Every once in a while, I’d run into a tourist.
Of course, I didn’t consider myself a tourist. I may not have lived in Sulani all my life, but I knew as soon as I stepped a foot on the sand, I was home.
Anyways, I could spot a tourist a mile away. And more often than not, these tourists carried a lot of cash on them.
You might think it ethically a grey area. But every time I managed to sneak a few bills from a purse left on the table, or a back pocket of someone who had a few too many drinks, I was filled with conviction.
These were the sort of people who stood for everything I was against. I figured they wouldn’t miss the few dollars, anyways.
