My favorite aftermaths are typically after kidnappings. When the whumpee or victim, whichever you’d like to call it, can finally see their loved ones again after everything horrible has been done to them.
Sometimes I’ll have the loved ones rushing in for the rescue, other times they’ll have to wait for the hospital.
But I do love it when the victim is just laying there, more than likely still bound and weak and accepting that they’ll probably die, and then they hear the voice they’d been praying to hear since the second They’s been taken away. And they think they’d imagined it but they can’t help but cry out for their loved one and then they can feel hands on them. And they can’t help but flinch away until they look up and see the only person in the world that they’d wanted in that moment.
And they’re still scared and confused and they think they aren’t going to make it. Their loved one is crying and telling them it’ll be okay. And then the victim is just gathered up, like they’re being slowly pieced back together and they can’t just relax into the person they love as they’re carried out of their cell or away from whatever prison they’d been in and the person promises to protect them and continues to tell them that everything’s gonna be okay.
And the nightmares come and their loved ones are there running hands through their hair and holding them tight, quietly telling them that everything’s still okay. That the bad things are all gone and it’s just them now. And they’re gonna be okay because they’re together.
Because they’re precious.
