What are you writing for?

You read that right. Not what are you waiting for, but what are you writing for? One of the biggest beliefs we hold at Higher Ground Books & Media is that everyone has a story. This doesn't mean that everyone has a bestseller in them, but everyone DOES have a story. And there are people out there who need to hear it

WHY WE WRITE

We write to speak In a world that tries to silence us To let them know, we've had enough

For children Paying the price of mistakes Made centuries ago

We write For people in power Who have turned a blind eye To those who need attention the most

We write for our only home Depleting each second Even right now, as I speak

We write for hope in this hopeless world We write For peace For love We write for change

So, @lesleyuniversity had me on their #whywewrite podcast to talk about what they call "the freedom of self-publishing and the gumption it takes to call yourself a writer....plus advice from Dolly Parton," all of which is accurate. They titled the episode "Self-publishing, ghost hunting lesbians, and Dolly Parton," which is all I want my legacy to be. (But soooo worth it. anything too easy most likely isn’t worth it, but writing shouldn’t Be like pulling teeth. Surround yourself with quality individuals, learn daily, and just keep exploring and experimenting with the worlds you are building. After a time.. you will have no choice but to have written 📝💩 Then revise. Then once you start writing on your draft again BAM!! You are that much better of a writer. Rinse, and repeat. Day 7 and 8 of novlitwrit 7: I wrote about 1600 words yesterday and I barely wrote 200 words today. Is that sad? 8: My character sheets.
